According to AAMT BOS, are allergies to be capitalized?
Not unless they're a name-brand med...sm - Lilly

If the BOS said different, I personally would ignore it. You might be asked to bold the allergy but I don't see why a generic drug would need to be capitalized or shrimp or dairy, in my humble opinion.
This is the preferred format, but.... - qMT

I know the BOS lists this as the preferred format, but I think it really depends on the account specifics at the facility you work for. I work at several different hospitals, and each has a preference for how they want the allergies listed - some want them capped, others want them capped and bolded, and others want them in regular text.
I would stick to whatever your account specifics say, but for an exam or something like that, I would stick with the capped allergies as the BOS suggests.
Hi, I'm transcribing a doctor's note that's describing the patient's allergies and how the patient has tried various OTC drugs, including 'pseudometafecin' but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to spell that correctly; I've tried all of the different variations that I can think of (sudometofecin, pseudometaphecin, etc.) and tried looking up 'allergy medications' and coming up with squat. I have a feeling I'm very close to how it may ...

I am on a verbatum account. Doc say past medical history is unremarkle. Then gave meds. Then listed as the first allergy hayfever.
In your opinions, would you list hayfever as an allergy as it's verbatum, or would you put hay fever in past medical history. I've never known hay fever to be an allergy.
Thanks,

The pt is allergic to human plasma analog... etc. I did a yahoo search for "human plasma analog" but nothing comes up. Is analogs a separate allergy? ...
Doc says clearly "allergy to intravenous lines." I'm just wondering if there is such a thing. The only thing I can think of is an allergy to the material, or the patient said it to be funny and this ESL doc took her seriously. ...
