Who pays 5 or 6 cpl for VR/SR? - MT w/a ?

I keep reading posts about companies that pay 5 or 6 cpl for VR but where are these companies posting their job ads? I have 13 years of experience as an MT and my hands are sore and ache with all of the straight typing. I would love to make 5 or 6 cpl for VR not 3 or 4 cpl for VR!!!!!! Email me the names of these companies if your afraid to put them on the board, I don't mind !

They pay 5 cpl but only for visible black characters.... And this is only once they get around to including VR in their pool. I never made it that far as I was too disgusted with the pay for straight typing. I'm with you though - I'd prefer VR - even at a pay cut. It sounds much esier on the hands.

Transcend pays 50% of the straight typing rate, and most of the people there only make 8 cpl. Very, very few people are making 10 cpl for straight typing.

There are certain accounts that pay more, but there's also a reason for that. Believe me, Transcend isn't going to pay 10 cpl for the majority of their accounts. Even the recruiter will tell you that starting rate generally is 8 cpl for ST and 50% of that for VR.

We were grandfathered in with the MDI purchase and most of us making 10+ cpl had a cut in pay and were told that it was across the board because the prevailing rate is between 8 and 9 cpl.

the basic sign-on rates they have to admit to. Most also require employees to keep quiet about their pay, especially those making more.

Also a reminder, you are new to Transcend. - They are notorious for change.

I would venture to bet my house that you won't be at 10.15 cpl in 3 years. I started out with them at that rate too, but it slowly started to dwindle over time until I quit. They find every reason in the book to lower the line rates.

If it's not true, then they are the ones lying. They said that we would be grandfathered in at our current line rates. Then when they started changing things, we were told that they were cutting rates for ANYONE over 9 cpl. Their excuse was their high costs and staying competitive with other vendors. They specifically said that ALL NEW HIRES WOULD BE MAKING 8 CPL FOR TRANSCRIPTION AND 4 CPL FOR VR, but we were still getting 9 cpl.

Ask other people who were with MDI and got cuts if you don't believe me. That's why so many people left. Nice to know that they pick and choose who they're going to give the 10 cpl to at the same time they're cutting others already at 10 cpl.

In my manual it says Transcend pays 60% of the straight typing amount. I'm all all straight typing accounts, so I've never actually tested it, but I get paid 11 cpl, so that would make my VR amount 6.6 cpl if that's how it works. I am NOT a team lead.

What would the VR rate be then at 10.5 - for straight SM

My other company had bonuses and shift differentials and a bunch of other stuff. Transcend went back over the last year to figure out my average pay rate in cpl and then that's what agreed to pay me without any production bonuses or differentials, just the straight cpl. I am a very high producer though.

Transcend paid me 4 cents a line for VR and 8 cents a line for typing jobs which were very few and far between. They didn't look at my past job performance..this was a straight pay. When they hired me I was told that the AVERAGE MT doing VR got 350 lines an hour.pfffffttttt I find that hard to believe.

350 lines an hour. I think 1 word sums it up...hogwash!!! I am on a pretty good account (don't have too many gripes about the dictators) and it's all I can do to punch out the 225 an hour that is required.

I am a 30+ year MT and I routinely do 300-350 lph. You may call it hogwash--I call it money in the bank.

On a post below about SGS, an MT states that she is being paid minimum wage. She states she had to 'fight' for it, however, they are paying her minimum wage on the accounts where she is scheduled, and expected, to sit in front of her computer when there is very little work.
