I tried to reply to your e-mail but it bounced back.
With VR, you'll receive the transcription already typed by the platform and the voice file. You will listen through the entire dictation. There are 2 cursors on the page - one that always marks where the voice file is and one that marks where you've left the keyboard at. So, you will use a keystroke combination to move the keyboard cursor. When you find a word or phrase you need to change/edit or a place you need to insert or delete information, you will bring your keyboard cursor to that place and then use a keystroke combination to highlight (if you are editing/deleting) information to be changed or simply type in the additional information.
What takes your concentration is keeping your keyboard cursor in synch by listening to what you are hearing and reading the report. You want to keep everything as in synch (caught up with your listening and reading) so you are ready to make the edit at a moment's notice.
The more time you spend stopping to make a correction/edit, getting your cursor to the spot that needs to be corrected, making the correction - the slower you will be.
It will, without a doubt, take dedicated effort and time for you to learn the keystrokes so you don't even think about them at all. They need to just become a non-think action! Take my tips that I put in a post below (I think you e-mailed me in response to that post). Give yourself some time and work at it - you want to become as good as you can at it - VR will NOT be going away.
Hope this helps.
