Comfort Curve 2000 keeps disconnecting!! - Jen

Posted: Sep 24, 2010

All day today I've been having a problem with my keyboard disconnecting.  When I remove/replace the plug, it'll reconnect for a little while, sometimes good for hours, sometimes only a few seconds.  I know it's not the USB outlet because I've tried them all w/the keyboard and it still happens.  I did update the driver and the optional windows update for it but it didn't make a difference.  I've also hooked it up to another computer and it doesn't connect at all then.  I'm guessing that the keyboard has gone bad, but I've had the keyboard less than a year.  In the 15 yrs I've been doing this, I've NEVER had a keyboard stop working.  Is this really the kind of crap hardware Microsoft is putting out these days???

I love the Comfort Curve 2000 keyboard but had to stop using them because I experienced the same problem you describe. I tried 3 or 4 keyboards over time and they all disconnected without warning like that. I don't think any of them lasted a year. I was running my through a splitter with 2 PCs and thought that might be what caused it. My experience was that the purchase price was affordable but the keyboard didn't last. Sorry this is happening to you, I can relate.

Thanks - Jen

Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one. I love that keyboard too but if they're only going to last that long, then I'd rather spend more $$ on something that'll last. Even though it has a 3 yr warranty, it's just not worth paying to send it to MS for replacement when it's really inexpensive to begin with (and I'd still be out a keyboard in the meantime). I'm just glad it wasn't my USB port going out on me.

Anyhow, thanks for letting me vent! ;-)

Now, I use the Microsoft Elite Keyboard, I think that is what it's called, it's the basic split ergonomic keyboard that's been around forever. I have small hands and have trouble making the reaches on some of the other keyboards, that is why I liked the Comfort Curve. I wish I knew how to solve the problem but no, you are not the only one. Hope you find something that works equally well.

Has anyone used both and can compare them?  Does the CC 3000 really provide relief for the wrists?  I've heard good things about the 4000 but it looks so...LARGE, lol! Any input appreciated before I click the "buy it now" feature! ...

After sitting for years in a chair from Sam's with no padding left with a pillow under my you-know-what and a pillow behind my back, I splurged on a Sealy Posturepedic chair.  Maybe it will be like laying in bed all day instead of typing?  It surely is the little things that please us these days ~~~~ Now hopefully will keep my job long enough to pay for it. . . . . ...

than minimum wage working at the Q!!! The last thing I need in my life right now is to add 5 more hours to my weekly work schedule (minimum PT) and make 60% less.  Of course we've been told nothing is changing "for a while" but it's scary not knowing how much this is going to affect ya financially.  Time to take a vigorous bike ride and get my thoughts together about this.  If anyone has anything positive to say about MQ, I'm listening...........  ...

??How long do you give yourself when you start a new company to be up to snuff!  I don't know if it's because I'm a senior MT (not unlike a senior dog you try to train) and I just am having a real hard time with the making any money.  I hate demographics that waste my time and there are a lot of them.  Also a lot of new types of work I haven't done in years. Need advice because I'm not even making minimum wage.  It's just been a month - but I fee ...

Learning Curve Time From DQS Version 2.x To 7.x?
Feb 02, 2013

Hi, I work for another company that uses M*M's DQS platform.  We're on version I think 2.0.2.0 or something, but some 2.x version for sure anyway.  They're going to upgrade us to 7.x (I assume 7.2) soon, and our boss says we'll have 1 day to get our line counts back up to normal, because all of the old key combinations work the same and nothing will really change except the onscreen appearance.  Is that realistic?  We get penalized severely if our lines ...

Another Problem With My *.acl Word 2000
Apr 02, 2011

I found out how to print my *.acl entries. I am now having trouble with trying to move what I have on my flash drive to my laptop that is Word 2000. I found where the *.acl file is (think it is under the MSO1033). But before I make the copy to it, I thought I would try putting in an entry on the laptop in autocorrect and trying to find the file again and that would give me the date I modified it which is today. I have tried every which way and no matter how many entries I put into autocorrect or ...

Is There Anyone Out There That Really Averages 2000 Lines Per Day On SR?
May 16, 2012

I ask because I took a job paying 4.5 to 5 cpl for SR using Dictaphone Enterprise Express Editor.  I was told that the minimum productivity for SR was 2000 lines per day and for typed lines was 1000 lines per day.  Of course, I never get straight transcription.  The most I have been able to do in SR on a good day was 1760 lines and that was being chained to my PC for 8 straight hours with only a 30 minute lunch.  I'm thinking that maybe I could do 2000 lines in a day if ...

Minimum Of 2000 Lines Per Day At TTS?
Jun 06, 2015

At Mmodal, our minimum requirement is 1200 lines per day.  That's an awful big difference!  Do people have trouble making 2000 lines at TTS?  Is this a way to get out of providing benes?  (I ask because I worked for a small MTSO years ago who used that method.)  Or are the platform and accounts so great that it is actually achievable on a regular basis? ...
