feasible to do 2000 lines per day? - yikes

Posted: Jun 18, 2014

I have a phone interview today and just found this forum.  I am scared to death to accept an offer.  My IC job will end due to VR.  It is a good account.  I type at least 2k a day and really need to be close to that range.  Is this possible at this company?  Should I just haul hiney in the other direction?  I wish I would have found this forum a long time ago Cry

feasible- who is the - new job?

[ In Reply To ..]
sorry, it was on the Nuance board, so my error.

Nuance would be the new job - so hoping 2k possible?

[ In Reply To ..]
Should have been clear that interview is with Nuance today.

Nuance - new job

[ In Reply To ..]
I can't answer that as I don't work there but hope you read the posts of current employees. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
Yes its possible - ac

I can do about 3000 with no interruptions on either of my accounts. You have to be fast though. Easily you can do 2000, taking breaks etc.
Baloney - Baloney
[ In Reply To ..]
Baloney! Don't believe it.
Believe it - ac

Why would I make that up?
Most likely you're one of the team leaders - who constantly inflate what is possible
[ In Reply To ..]
I sat next to a team leader from Nuance who stated, "it's a pretty good job if you don't mind making 18-20 dollars/hour" I could not believe what I was hearing. Most on this board would be THRILLED to make that money (even though it is still far short of the average 32/hour I made in years past). But simply do the math, it is not possible. Most get VR and are paid 4 to 5 cents/line. In order to average 18/hour one would have to consistently produce 360 lines/hour or 2800 lines per day. It is not done, cannot be done. I would say most are struggling to make the min wage without being called out on for having to receive make-up money. Even producing 250/hour consistently with the hassles of VR and the impossible standard of 100% accuracy is simply not able to be achieved. Period. End of Story.

all depends on your account - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
If you get lucky and a good one or 2 that don't OOW too often 2k-3k a day is doable.

I had a great acct that had awesome ER normals for ROS and PE that I could sometimes top 3k lines a day for a week straight... then the hospital was destroyed in a massive tornado last year and their ER part never came back. Kept running OOW and it forced me to switch to QC position for the hourly rate (shudder).

Run, for this reason and many others. - Keep reading all posts below.

We don't have enough work! Management does not manage, they give orders. I COULD go on and on and on.

2000 lines, too many "ifs" - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
IF you have good accounts, IF there is work, IF you have a halfway decent TSM, If you don't have too many bad dictators in a row, IF, IF, IF.

Totally not worth it.

thank you all for your respones - yikes

[ In Reply To ..]
i cancelled the interview and am looking elsewhere.

Best decision you will EVER make - Honest.

[ In Reply To ..]
You will thank us for years to come for our honesty.

Feasible - but not FIESA-ble

[ In Reply To ..]
The speech engine is not good - I have worked on a speech engine prior to my company getting eaten up by Nuance and I easily made 3000 lines per day, now I can only achieve 2000 on my best days.

What I mean by FIESA-ble is that because the speech engine is such garbage and/or they never update/teach it/whatever they are supposed to do to incorporate our corrections, you have to slow down to correct all the errors or you get dinged by FIESA, so of course your line count suffers.

I don't object to rigorous QA, but it's almost like Bam! - our speech engine sucks, even though we developed speech to text, - Bam! - you can never make any mistakes at all or you will be hit by FIESA, even though our ISR is substandard so you are correcting everything over and over again, - Bam! But you need to average 186 lph even though the best dictators have somehow disappeared and you are left with the crap, whether there were sent to India or are just implementing front-end SR or whatever, we're not telling YOU.

So you get hit with this triple whammy of nasty Nuance and your nice income and the satisfaction of editing good work all take a dive, you end up just above minimum wage, having to "flex" continuously, and that is Nuance.

Oh, I see you have decided against Nuance. Good for you.

Sometimes I believe they purposely suppress the speech engine's learning capabilities so they can suppress our incomes! How nasty is that?

now we are supposed to fill out enrich ticket - for misspelled words in ASR???

[ In Reply To ..]
Back from my 1-day staycation, 22 emails, to read, and one says now if we find wrong words through ASR, need 3 job numbers + account & ticket completed in enrich???? Nuance is getting crazier and crazier. I say FTS - there's the proof VR DOES NOT LEARN!!!!!!

I have been through this before and my question - I would donate unpaid time why?

[ In Reply To ..]
Don't we have enough time to waste with the FIESA and other garbage we do on our time?

Why on earth would I go through that rigamarole because THEIR ASR is making stupid spelling errors? Forget that garbage. If I see it, I correct it, if not, I guess I will deal with it when FIESA dings me and I point out it is not my error since I always spell check.

The unmitigated gall.

Is There Anyone Out There That Really Averages 2000 Lines Per Day On SR?
May 16, 2012

I ask because I took a job paying 4.5 to 5 cpl for SR using Dictaphone Enterprise Express Editor.  I was told that the minimum productivity for SR was 2000 lines per day and for typed lines was 1000 lines per day.  Of course, I never get straight transcription.  The most I have been able to do in SR on a good day was 1760 lines and that was being chained to my PC for 8 straight hours with only a 30 minute lunch.  I'm thinking that maybe I could do 2000 lines in a day if ...

Minimum Of 2000 Lines Per Day At TTS?
Jun 06, 2015

At Mmodal, our minimum requirement is 1200 lines per day.  That's an awful big difference!  Do people have trouble making 2000 lines at TTS?  Is this a way to get out of providing benes?  (I ask because I worked for a small MTSO years ago who used that method.)  Or are the platform and accounts so great that it is actually achievable on a regular basis? ...

Another Problem With My *.acl Word 2000
Apr 02, 2011

I found out how to print my *.acl entries. I am now having trouble with trying to move what I have on my flash drive to my laptop that is Word 2000. I found where the *.acl file is (think it is under the MSO1033). But before I make the copy to it, I thought I would try putting in an entry on the laptop in autocorrect and trying to find the file again and that would give me the date I modified it which is today. I have tried every which way and no matter how many entries I put into autocorrect or ...

Those Who Do 2000 Lpd Straight Typng, Would You Share Some Tips?

Would those of you who do acute care work and average 2000 lpd share a few pointers with us on how you do this?  I've been in this business for many years but struggle to do 1200 lpd with about 40% ESL dictators in my account pool. Also, there's very little repetition in the dictation narratives.  I understand about refining your macros, which I do, but other than that I just can't seem to get my speed up.  Thanks for any help that you're willing to give.  ...

Told Nuance Was Overcharging For Lines, Now Lines Drastically Reduced
May 02, 2012

My main account was a good one, and the lines were very good, mostly ER work. I have been on this account for over a year and a half now. We recently received an e-mail stating that Nuance had discovered that the line count was charging incorrectly, as instituted by them, and they had been crediting us with MORE lines than we were actually doing and overcharging the client. Now get this, they informed us that they would not make US pay it back, for their mistake, but that our new lines would re ...

How many lines do you average per day - VR and traditional?  I know it's been VERY slow lately, but when things are going well, how many lines do you normally get? I'm trying to figure out where the average numbers are.  For me, I do about 350 trad and about 1400 VR in 8 hours. 150 Lines Per Hr Or ASR 350?
Sep 09, 2011

so I get my offer from MedQuist today after they acquired AllType.  In order to qualify for benefits, I have to type 150 lines per hr or do voice recognition editing at 350 per hr.  I don't know if I can do this.  On a good account, no problem.  But ASR on accounts I have been doing are ridiculous, so many random errors, no way you can skim through them.  Any body out there that consistently gets these line counts every week without working more than 39 hrs per week ...
