Bayscribe and Instant Text - Melissa

I recently upgraded to IT Pro 7.20. Immediately after the upgrade my jump codes that I have been using for years in Bayscribe no longer worked for me. When I would expand an entry that contained a jump code up jumps the box Transcription Tools Quick Find (Text To Search for Using Quick Find)>It stopped at my jump code and the box in that window would contain the text of the report following the place of my inserted jump code. My jump code I set up in Bayscribe is ^ (Shift 6) and my search code set up in Bayscribe is Control Shift Y. So in setting up my report I use the ^ for the code where I want to insert text and at the end of the report I use Control Home and Control Shift Y to take me to the beginning of the report and search. Hope that makes sense! At any rate it has worked well until the 7.20 download. I have talked with the IT people and they find no reason my old codes would not work. I have tried changing codes but the same thing happens. If it is not an Instant Text issue maybe it is a Bayscribe issue but nothing changed there so I am at a loss how to fix it! If anyone has any suggestions, or if any of you Bayscribe users are using jump codes successfully after downloading IT Pro 7.20 would you mind sharing how you are doing it? I recommend that you research out and post your questions on the InstantText website itself. (textware dot com) They have a compatibility forum there already.

I've personally had some aggravating technical compatibility issues with SpeechMotion solved by doing this. In my case, it was a matter of going in and editing the ".ini" file for IT.

Alternatively, you can contact their customer service at at 781-272-3200 ext 2 for a more expedient answer. They are extremely helpful folks.

Thank you Kathleen for your reply. I talked with Marianne when this happened, sent her my glossary, and she and Emmanuel could find no reason this is happening. I suggested to her that I go back to the 7.0 but they did not think that was something I should do or would be helpful. I have worked with Bayscribe, changing my codes, doing anything I felt could be of help but nothing changes and the same things happen. Do you use Bayscribe and IT? Did you download the 7.20 update and if you use jump codes are you still able to use them successfully? I very much appreciate your trying to help... I hope to hear from you! Thanks again, Melissa

I've used Instant Text 7 Pro for 2 years on a secure website with Bayscribe on IE 9 (10 isn't compatible last I knew). I renewed my license this morning (haven't had the funds to buy a permanent one yet). To my horror, the minute I try my Bascribe expansions with IT docked/linked or insert an IT phrase/word -- Bayscribe completely locks up. I downloaded the trial version of Instant Text and used the Importer to import my Bayscribe expander entries through Text File. Either this was the wrong format to use or I did something else wrong because the entries are not expanding. I was able to get the abbvs.glo file to show up in the glossary entries. Anyone have any good websites for Instant text tutorial or questions? I did read through productivity talk and did find what I needed. I have not used this software in years. I use autotext, but I would like to use the line counting software that comes wtih IT. I am trying to figure out a short cut to copying text, right clicking on IT , clipboard statistics, and logging each note. Any thoughts on how to do this with keystrokes and NOT the mouse? Just wondered about what you all think is the best expander to use with VR. I used to use Shorthand up to a couple of years ago and now work with Instant Text. It seems to me that Shorthand is very very popular with the VR crowd. Does anyone use Instant Text successfully with VR? I am looking for Instant Text users who may be able to get me headed in the right direction in regards to compilations. I have been using Instant Text for quite a while now, only adding things on the fly, or using the enrich feature. I do not understand the compilation feature it seems. Does anyone use Instant Text with Probity's Integra platform? I just downloaded IT and am having a lot of difficulty using it. First, I had to set it to be on the right side of the screen because otherwise the time marker disappeared. Not a big deal though. I just signed up for the 30-day free trial of Instant Text. This is what I have found: * IT is faster than Shorthand. * IT has some good features that SH lacks. However, IT also has some annoying limiitations -- just like SH does -- as far as what you can name entries. For example, when naming an entry you can only use letters, numbers, _ and - .
