America is so ruled by corporations that they won't pay any attention to what another country is doing. Our corporations would just think the UK is stupid. We have a very arrogant attitude that NOBODY ELSE does things better than America. It's an attitude that is destroying this country.
The bill to close tax loop holes has passed but - The problem is...

You can no more restrict a company from sending a job overseas than you can restrict an individual from going on vacation overseas.
Hopefully, with it being less profitable to offshore jobs, this trend will reverse.
Yes. The Privacy Rules allow hospitals to disclose patients' names and other directory information to anyone asking for the patient by name or to the clergy. Patients do not need to sign up to be included in the directory, but must be allowed to "opt out" and choose not to be listed.
For those of you who have been saying that sending transcription overseas is illegal or a HIPAA violation, this information was taken from the HIPAA Q & A board on ...
There is a petition here http://wh.gov/XbqE about stopping off-shoring jobs. I saw it on facebook, and it would apply to MT, I think.
They need 150 signatures for it to be put on the White House website.
If our jobs were back here and not sent to other countries, maybe we could finally work and get paid enough to survive - kind of like in the "good old days."

My husband is in the stock market and has been checking up and reading things about MedQuist. MedQuist is now in a transition of sending more to India than ever before. According to the CEO and COO, they are looking to increase their volume of 15% of MQ total work to 45% in the next 6 months. The purchase of Spheris was a smokescreen. The contract with Spheris was that they could come in and set up shop with their own people and move the MQ folks out. Which is ...
Maybe I haven't done a thorough search. I see a lot of posts about offshoring to India. Not all of the work goes there. AFAIK, the Philippines is quite a hot spot.
India, Philippines--what the heck. How's that global economy working for ya? ...
According to articles in The Economic Times and The Daily Mail, an undercover investigation by Britain's ITV1 television program "Tonight" has revealed that medical records of UK citizens are available for purchase from Indian black marketeers. Quoting from The Economic Times article:
The modus-operandi employed to procure the records was simple. Chris Rogers, the [television] programme’s presenter, contacted two Indian salesmen through an internet chat room, and posed as a marketing ...
Below is a link to an article written by Nuance VP in 2010 about what the future holds for MTs and transcription. Chilling to say the least as it was a 5 year projection and I see it unfolding as we work day to day. This might help some of us who wish to petition for the TAA assistance through the Dept of Labor. I know there was discussion of how to prove that our work is being offshored to India and here it is coming right out of the horses mouth.

Everybody leave Medquist....go get other work -- working at McDonald's pays more and has better
benefits - at least you get to eat.
And see how well India does all the transcription -- they can't do it -- we do the hard work and they get the
cream. We are sitting her dying with their bad machines and bad dictators.
Let them have it -- they will corode.

The conference calls are over, the paperwork will soon be sent in, and rumors have been put to rest, at least I think they have been. I am encouraged because D seems to be more at the helm than I thought she was going to be. She answered a question yesterday which made things more clear about the rate cut. I said a long time ago that 10 or 11 cpl was not going to fly forever. You charge only what the market can bear, and in this economy it cannot handle those rates. ...
Just curious: Any MDI MTs not feeling like jumping through the hoops, printing out the paperwork for Transcend on THEIR deadline even though we don't become official employees until Feb 1? Anybody going to just quit and save yourself the hassle? Doesn't seem quite fair to want MDI MTs to just say "how high" when they say "jump" does it? I'm just put out at how we've been treated. Yeah, it's business, and that usually means it is okay t ...
MQ has made big changes to my primary account. Now things are all messed up and because of it, we have to re-enter redundant information in the ADT screen. For example, it says ADT Attending and ADT Admitting with the doc's names. Those aren't carrying over to the report now, for some reason, so we have to re-enter those docs names in the additional ADT field under attending and admitting. Also, all of the reference repository stuff is gone. It now says th ...
I'm just sayin....as a radiology MT in this company for 14 years...we have always sent radiology reports straight through to the docs to review and sign (because of turnaround time)....never knew they did QA until I got new accounts 2 years ago....and have had some pretty bad foreigners. I believe it is docs job to go over his reports anyway...he is legally responsible.. ...
Just wondering about the sending of blanks. I had a few blanks due to inaudible dictation. I know QA wouldn't be able to get it either, but when I uploaded the job the QA box was checked and I tried to uncheck it and it wouldn't let me.
So, how do you just send it straight to the client and not to QA? ...
Are they kidding? Who is going to be sending ANYTHING to QA and take a chance of having their pay cut? Especially if it's the beginning of the work week! Yes, the clients will be getting blanks and I know they will be complaining. The Q keeps sending us e-mails telling us to cut down on QA submissions. Are they kidding? No amount of "tips" will help if the dictator mumbles, sneezes, is ESL, etc. Don't they think we know all the "tricks" already? Besides that, we can't ...
I feel that I flag a lot and send to QA a lot. I've been at this for about a year, do acute care, lots of ESL etc so I think it's a reasonably difficult account; but I ask myself do really experienced MTs, e.g. those at this for 5 years or 10 years or more, send so many jobs over to QA? I mean, do you get to the point where you can pretty much understand everything these guys are saying, even when they're chewing, slurring, belching etc.? I would love to make it ...
She started out the dictation yawning and apologized for it the first time but then went on to do it 3 or 4 more times. It's a good thing I'm near the end of my night because now I'm yawning like crazy. ...
assigning me the garbage work just because you "think" I can do it. Had to vent, really sick of it! Between the ESLs and the stuff where people say things that do not make sense I am really getting fed up! Sorry, had to vent. I know you read this and I know you know who is this. ...
No one is going to do it for us. There is wage theft, minimum wage, changing of timecards, disrespect for our knowledge, ridiculous working conditions, bad management, and no communication.
MTs have been left completely out of the conversation, and they are the MT in MTSO. How bizarre is that?
I think everyone should just walk away from their keyboards. We won't know what the result of an action like that will be until we take it, and hold a positive intent on beha ...
I really hope this doesn't get redirected. I meant to put it on the Main Board. I want to send out a request for more VR and dictation funnies. MTStars has gotten so depressing lately, and I could really use some laughs. ...
Has anyone out there gotten a 1099 from TTD? I assume not, but I only saw one post below with 1 response. Has anyone reported her to the IRS criminal division yet? This is just plain sickening. ...
Idea to contact CNN and see if we could get the attention of Dr Sanjay Gupta to do an investigative piece on offshoring. After all, this is his country, and it might interest him for many reasons. We'll see if we can get some attention, and maybe you guys can also send in requests at this link. http://www.cnn.com/feedback/show/?s=storyidea
Found this on a website. ...
Okay. Finished report that original MT was in India. Went to 2 different QA editors, nothing corrected. Came to me. I made over 50 corrections. If this is any indication of their work, our jobs are safe. Ridiculous and diiscouraging at the same time. ...
than some of these idiots who you have to muddle through on day after day after day ad nauseum? I am transcribing this dictator tonight who has had one patient with "infantigo" and on her "review of symptoms" she dictates "Eyes" as a subheading by itself then does HEENT later on in the review. I would be so organized if I were doing this, I would have a standard sheet for every patient with ROS and PE, then just fill in the blanks and note any abnormalties. It would be so easy for us ...
I have never posted or replied to anything on MTstars.com, about any company in my 30 years in this field and have worked for a few BIG companies in the past (who were never this bad, not even Medquist) and with my own experiences I can say Nuance should be rated as a 10 as the worst company to work for (10 as worst). If you are considering Nuance, do not waste your time or most importantly, your self-respect. ...
