holiday pay...isn't time and a half or is it? sm - confused

Please explain someone. I am not getting time and a half from their calculations. By law it has to be. From my calculations and comparing to the old method, it is not time and a half. I'm very concerned with this.

It is a 25% premium, meaning you make 25% more on lines, not 25% more pay I don't think. Means on say 1000 line day, you would get an extra 250 lines worth of pay, which means you get about an extra $20, less if you are over 10% QC and have errors from QA. Sooo, Merry Christmas.

I thought by law any holiday pay has to be time and a half. Which used to be your cpl divided in half and added to your rate. So 8 cpl normally for holiday pay would mean 12 cpl on all holiday lines.
Now they say they add 25% more lines. So yes for 100 lines i'd get paid for 125 lines on the holiday. factor in the other crap. That doesn't equal time and a half. What we were paid before. Is it the law or no? I always thought it was for federal holidays.

"Federal law does not require you to pay your employees extra, or above normal pay, for working on a holiday. This is especially true for retail or hospitality businesses. The holidays are typically considered regular workdays and employees receive their normal pay for time worked.

If an employee is taking the day off, you’re also not obligated to pay them for the day. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to pay only for time worked. This means that if your employee takes off Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (both federal holidays), they are not entitled to pay for that day.

In practice, many employers provide holidays off or extra pay for working on a holiday. These arrangements are considered employee benefits."

NO. As explained to me, 25% premium on you lines, Not line rate. So at .08, if it were 12 cpl, on 1000 lines, that would be $120 for the day.

However, at 0.08 x 1000 lines = $80. Plus 25% line premium which would be 250 lines. This would be 0.08 x 1250, which is $100.

This is also the new comp plan. It's not a line RATE premium, but a line premium. Pays different.

Time and a half is a benefit fought for by labor unions for decades before - it came to pass for anyone.

Definitely not law. Some companies have adopted the union model, some even exceeded it by making it double time! But an Indian company is hardly compelled (obviously) to offer anything but minimal compensation for American workers.

We are experiencing the unintended consequences of peoples' votes supporting the "party of big business" instead of "the party of the working people," but that is a conversation for a different board.

Ive never not given a notice, but I interviewed today and might get the job. The WHOLE report didn't have three words consecutively that made the least bit of sense or had anything to do with what was dictated. "Fix" it?  You gotta be kidding.  Wipe it out and transcribe as dictated, you mean.  Oh, and here's your half line rate, thanks! You SR transcription companies MAKE ME SICK.   ...
