Transitioned to Nuance - feelinbeatdown

I am interested in the QC area MTs who went over in the first round of the transition. What are your thoughts regarding working for Nuance thus far? I've got to admit I'm not feeling as excited as I was at the beginning of this venture. Please give me some encouraging words.

Am transitioning to Transcend, who boasts employees 3500, and was bought by Nuance the same day I was told from my place of employment that we are being transitioned to Transcend. 0.04 cents a line for editing and 0.08 cents a line for traditional transcription. No shift differentials. Doesnt sound too exciting to me.

Voice-recognition machines

The painstaking task of transcribing dictation may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to transcription machines sold by a company called Nuance Communications (NUAN). And sophisticated speech recognition threatens to replace all kinds of jobs -- from customer service rep to language translators, and others.

How long can it be before costly court transcribers are replaced by machines?

The majority of customer-service rep calls follow a handful of predictable scripts, over and over. So it shouldn't be too hard to teach a voice-recognition-enabled computer to deal with them. And McAfee predicts that in a few years, travelers will be able to put a smartphone with a translation app on the table and carry on a full conversation with a person in a foreign country who doesn't speak the same language.

Assuming all the people in that country haven't been replaced by machines.

their jobs, first to agencies and then to technology. All those little kids in the 80s who could program their parent's VCRs grew up with technology. It's no big deal for them to do their own charting and correspondence.

I'm fairly new to Nuance. I have never had to work accounts like this place does. Each time I download a job, I have to check all the acct specifics because there is a mixture of hospitals. Pretty time consuming I think. I've always worked on 1 hospital at a time, not a mix. Have to remember multiple rules, multiple dictators, blah blah. I have 6 months to go and then I'm out of here.

So are all the hospital accounts just dropped into one pool and you take what comes next? Do you know if Radiology is the same?

you download a job. I don't know the rhyme or reason for it - one job will be dictated yesterday at 3 and the next job will be same category dictated 20 minutes ago, job #'s make no sense and basically you get whatever the hell is next in your cue. EACH job is a different hospital so you have to look at the specs before typing it. Also, verify patient name, dob, dictator, and on and on all for the glory of 4cpl.

The account I work on has multiple hospitals to it. However, I had worked on this account prior to transitioning to Nuance and it is very complex.

Each MT is set up with a pool script of the types of jobs they "can" type/edit, as some are more proficient than others. Therefore, you type/edit whatever comes into your queue. If you don't know how to format a new job type, then you learn how.

As far as radiology, I'm not sure. We haven't had radiology at our facility for the past 3 years or so as VR took our jobs over at that time. Therefore, there is no radiology in our facility. Not sure about the others in our account.

I may have been traded off to Nuance in the same - fiasco as you....

Today I was offered a job making less than I've made in at least 15 years and I'm taking it. I don't trust Nuance and I can't risk not having a job and losing medical insurance. I have no encouraging words. Our former employer is a sellout.

I was curious whether or not anyone has yet been fully transitioned to DQS 6.1? Like the age/gender discrepancy feature or the banned content feature? for a hospital that has sold out to Nuance to working for Nuance and watched with disbelief what they do? Has anyone watched them try to manage the account without asking anyone who works/worked at the hospital for suggestions, for instance, how to staff and cover busy days, evenings, etc.? Or QA, when they don't know the doctors but then send out emails with QA tips that are just wrong - yet they STILL don't ask anyone who works at the hospital or just plain igno ...

Our high-volume hospital dept just went onto Powerscribe after many fits and starts. Everyone involved expected the MTs to get reports to edit but it looks like the doctors (who fought tooth and nail against this) are very happy with editing themselves. According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. If Webmedx does away with or changes their recently advertised "PRODUCTION BASED INCENTIVE" bonus and adopts the Nuance quality based bonus then this change may be considered by quite a few WMX employees as yet another cut in pay. Is this true? Because if so that means they dont take into consideration years of experience, opportunity for increase or nothing. Seems kind of hard to work for an obviously big and successful company that is only willing to pay their employees 0.41 cpl and thats it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I received an incentive bonus this paycheck (for the first time ever). My QA score was 99.3%. So, I get an email today from my supervisor that my latest audit was only 98.2% and they are going to reaudit me in 2 weeks to see if my score is improving or if I need further disciplinary action. WTF? I've been with Nuance for 3 years and think it's time to jump ship. This company is messed up, and the QA is so inconsistent. ...
