I just ran the numbers. Based on my income, age and marital status, I not only qualify for food stamps, but I also qualify for cheaper health insurance under Obamacare. Even owning my home (still have a mortgage) and having a little bit of money in the bank, I qualify for food stamps. I did not qualify in June, but my income has dropped since then because of there being little to no work. The health insurance (bronze plan) for which I qualify will cost me $19 per month based on my income, age and marital status. That's a savings of over $100 per month. (This will also benefit the GBs at Nuance because they won't be paying their share of my health insurance.)
I would urge everyone to check out their state's websites. I don't want to give out too much personal information, but I am going to make my own changes right after the first of the year. I never thought I would be working a full-time job and be able to qualify for subsidies for health care and food stamps. I was not raised to be on the dole, but hey, guess what? Nuance has made me what I am today, i.e., a taker. I'm not old enough to retire and until I can figure out what other career path to take, I'm going to be on the government dole.
Sign me a once proud and self-sufficient American.
P.S. Open enrollment for Obamacare ends February 15, 2015. Also check out your local utility companies. In addition to the above, I also qualify for a 40% reduction in gas and electric. Nuance and their ilk are helping to make America a nanny state. This is exactly what socialism looks like people.
