So after anguishing over this new pay grid I began crunching numbers. If I continue with my average line count which is around 170 lph and fall off the grid I will be making $12.75 ph. If I send more than the QC% of 10% I will make 11.90. So worst case scenario is $11.90 ph at this point. I have looked around at other jobs and as it has been stated years of MT experience does not transitiion well into other fields. Options: Start over in a whole new area, retail, customer service, and start at maybe $9 or $10 ph or more than likely minimum wage plus filling up my gas tank on a weekly basis so you can take $35 to $45 right off the top. Another option would be to go to work for another MTSO and earn close to the same plus the risk of their treatment of employees which does not look good around the industry at all! Lastly, go back to being an IC which used to pay more but now seems to top out at 8 cpl! So by my estimation if I stick it out and keep my expectations low then I can at least earn more here than anywhere. Could be a bad outlook I guess but at this point with the way jobs and pay are I guess I have no choice. This is just my situation. I realize others are very insulted by this kind of pay and I get it. I haven't seen 7 cpl ever, even when I began working from home 16 years ago. The sad fact is with competing companies and offshoring and the hiring of so many new MTs who may not think this pay is that bad, it is the sad truth. This is probably as good as it gets. The pay not so much different than most. The communication and treatment, ehh that could be better! However, for now I suppose I will focus and strive for those $500 per week paychecks. I hope everyone finds the best way to go for themselves and their family. I for one know it is not an easy decision to make but those of us who need a paycheck it is just one view that may put things in perspective.
