Does Nuance hire part-time? - Suzy Q

I just had interview with Softscript and found out that they do not hire any part-time MT's. Here they let me do testing and go to all that trouble and never even looked at my application, where I distinctly siad I wanted only part-time. Just shows how much they look at your application. So I am wondering now if Nuance hires that way. If not then this is probably a waste of time too. Very frustrating that these companies do not let you know up front.

I applied with Nuance and after taking the testing, was told I would need to upgrade my Word version (at a cost of $150). I emailed back and said, I'm not upgrading anything until I know what the pay is." I have found that UNTIL you get the question you wanted answered, don't go further. I guess they thought I would pay for Word and then ask what the pay was!! BTW, when I found out the pay, $13.50 for
QCE, I was shocked..... and I've been doing this for 30 years!

I applied for the QA first but there were no remote positions, so then applied for the QC.

I love how one recruiter (or possibly the same) tells one person one thing and another tells that person something else. It's one thing to offer equipment and say that if you want to use your own, that's fine... But constantly switching it up, saying one account provides equipment and another doesn't, especially since you change accounts from time to time, yet you don't change equipment!
My recruiter has told me so many things that she eventually turned around and said weren't correct or that she didn't tell me... I wish I had recorded our conversations.
And now I'm reading that some people are being reimbursed for upgrades?

I've been out of work for almost a year trying to find work. Sure, there were dime-a-dozen IC jobs... And even some full employee jobs, but all my experience is clinic work (other than schooling, before there were "approved AAMT/AHDI" schools) and even then it was with a multi-specialty clinic were each Transcriptionist was segregated to one specialty mostly. So, trying to find a job that worked with me and my schedule... This is what I end up with. I really hope it works out!

I am considering a part time position with this company. As a part time employee, I was expecting the hours to be 4 hours a day, but a friend of mine also with Nuance says part time involves 8 hours on either Sat. or Sun. I can do it most of the time, but every now and then I miss it, sometimes by as much as 20 lines per hour. I have had 1 email asking that I use my time more productively and make the line count. Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. I am still debating whether to enroll at Andrews or M-TEC. My husband is retiring in 2 years and I want to be able to work part-time after that. Is it realistic to think that I can complete the course at Andrews or M-TEC in 12 months at the most, work full time for a year and then part-time after that.
