Discrimination concern - NonRMT

Posted: Nov 03, 2014

Just a thought, has anybody noticed that all TLs and TSMs are CMTs.  I believe they discriminate against those of us who do not have our RMT or CMT for any positions of authority.  I have applied for many TL and TSM positions and have never heard a word.  They CYA by putting that preferred line in, but what they mean is don't bother.  I believe this is discrimination.  What do you all think??

Untrue. I am not a CMT - non-CMT TL

Have never been one and anyway there is no such thing as a CMT anymore.

CMT - nonRMT

Ummm yes there is. They still test for it and there is actually training for it, so beg to differ, there is such a thing. You can either take your RMT or your CMT through AHDI,

Ummm, no. AHDI is no longer administering RMT or CMT sm - non-CMT TL

exams. They have been rebranded. http://www.ahdionline.org/tabid/724/Default.aspx
They can "rebrand" and call it whatever they like, - but the AHDI "CMT" is still a scam.

That is untrue, not all of them are. In fact a good many of the - TLs and TSMs were not very good MLS.

I have 30 years and I found that MOST of the other TLs had less than 5 years and would come to me if they had a blank. One never even did QA and would ask an MLS to check reports. My COM typed less than 9 years, can you imagine? It was a game of who you knew, if you were a buddy, you got the job. The least experienced generally picked night shift when nothing went on - I was there and had to beg to get off because there was nothing to do. I had one TL I worked with who slept night shift and then volunteered to work OT on day shift.

I would not see it as being discrimination--sm - anon

If it were discrimination, then employers would not be able to request certificate programs, certain levels of education, etc.

For years I have thought that being in management would be even more stressful than MT with all of the acquisitions, that happen in this industry. That is only reinforced by reading the MM board noting a lot of TSMs being let go.

My TSM is not even an MT as far as I know. - nm

Discrimination Against California?
Feb 06, 2014

AGE DISCRIMINATION Complaint
Feb 22, 2015

Has anyone reading this ever filed an age discrimination complaint? I have never felt my age was an issue before this current situation, but now have the feeling that it is, at least for possible employers. Recently, I was offered an IC position. I completed the required IC paperwork and submitted it. After that I never heard another word from the intake person or the two people I was supposed to be working with to get set up to be an IC for this company. I emailed the intake person and one ...

I am thinking of getting into the field of MT but not hearing good things about it as far as steady work and getting paid.  I am also courous about the average yearly income because I've heard a wide range of numbers.  Also what is the real deal about getting work right out of school with no experience. ...

Disability Discrimination By Supervisor

Basically, story goes like this.  Have been a transcriptionist many years.  Thought I was moving up to a better line count with another company (having trouble making ends meet).  Found this great pay rate with a national MTSO and signed on.  Couldn't work full schedule since the beginning due to medical problems but did work consistently part time with excellent accuracy and no job-related complaints, nothing but praise for working a very difficult account.  About ...

Companies Have No Concern For MT
Mar 27, 2012

I have been trying to get a MT job since September.  I have thirty years of experience.  A company called me last week because they were looking for a seasoned radiology transcriptionist. They saw my resume on a board from 2010.  Anyway I interviewed and was ready to take the test tomorrow and I just got an email saying one of their MTs want to increase their hours so I won't be needed anymore.  They did not know this in advance.  ...

Contract Concern
Nov 13, 2012

Can someone please help me. I am new to the company, I have not been here 90 days yet. my TSM is "gone" so I have a new one now and have not yet spoken with her. I am very concerned because I realized that my "contracted" rate of 4 and 9 cpl at 150 lph does NOT meet my state minimum wage, I rarely get straight typing to get the 9 cpl. I also am not meeting the 150 lph yet, even so that is only like 6$ an hour, that is horrible. I should have done my math beforehand. I didn't think they coul ...

Concern Over Supplemental Insurance Deadlines !!

Age "Discrimination"
Nov 18, 2014

It's interesting that different doctors or speakers have different takes on ages. There's one doctor who seems to think just about everyone is "elderly", even a patient in her late 50s. Then there are doctors who refer to patients in their 60s as being "middle-aged." Regarding the doctor who refers to just about everyone as being "elderly", I thought maybe he's a young doc. So I Googled him to see if I can view him whether he looks young, but he looked like he was in his 50s hi ...
