Christmas work volumes - A planner

Posted: Dec 23, 2013

Merry Christmas all!  With this being the first official Christmas as Nuance and our scheduling procedures have changed, can anyone tell me what they've experienced with Christmas work volumes in the past or what you experineced on Thanksgiving?  I'm scheduled but obviously would prefer to be with my family so I'm actually hoping for an OOW situation.  Thank you!

We will probably be OOW. - Khaled

This is the only job I've ever had where I've been expected to sit around and wait for work, and if none comes I'm expected to make up for it later. Well, sorry. That's not going to happen. If they don't have work for me on my shift, they've made a scheduling error and they should review their process. I work my scheduled hours and the rest is up to them.

I'm hoping to be OOW - A planner

I've always been told that if OOW for 15 minutes I can clock out and leave for the reaminder of my shift. Most days I hang around but certainly not Christmas Day! Thanks for your reply!

Go by the handbook! - CurioustMT

I've been here for a couple years now, so I've experienced this several times... and each time, there's been NO work on the system. I did have one Thanksgiving where we had some doctors making up for files they didn't dictate (almost all ESL docs)... but even that went quick.

I, however, was told just recently that if I run out, I'm to check in and possibly have another account assigned. Sorry, but BULL
I will not spend my holiday learning a new account, having all of my work sent to DSP to screw up my percentages, and then screw with my production for those measly hours! If there is work on that account, then they shouldn't have let so many people on that account off for the holiday!

I intend to follow what the handbook says:

OUT OF WORK (OOW)/NO STUDIES AVAILABLE (NSA)
There may be periods of time that you experience an out of work (OOW) or no studies available
(NSA) situation. When this occurs, you must follow the below steps:
1. Email your Manager or the covering Manager to inform him/her that you are OOW. In the
event that your account requires notification to your account loop (i.e.,
please use only the loop.
a. If you are assigned a secondary account, you should go into that account and begin
working rather than emailing your manager and waiting for an answer.
b. If you are assigned a secondary account and there is no work on that account, email
the manager immediately or utilize the secondary account loop for that account to
ensure that you are opened up to all eligible work on that account (sometimes it may
be just a setting adjustment).
2. Wait 15 minutes for work and/or a response from the manager.
a. If no work comes in and you do not receive a response the manager, log out and
indicate OOW on your time card in WebClock (in the comments section).
3. If you are able and want to flex your schedule to work at another time/day, request
approval from your manager. Please note that you are not required to flex your
schedule.
4. You are not required to use PTO time for OOW situations, but may choose to do so.
5. OOW situations do not affect your minimum hour requirement for benefit eligibility if you
report OOW on your time card. You must inform your manager of the OOW situation at
the time of the occurrence.
RE: #4 - by law, they have to pay minimum wage for OOW hours scheduled. - mt2

If they don't, call the Labor Board.

I do NOT MUP out of my schedule.
So they are not allowed to demand that we flex? - Is that what I am seeing?
[ In Reply To ..]
Because I had NJA on Thanksgiving, so my hours were short. My supervisor said I had to make up that time another day.

OOW, but.... - Craig

[ In Reply To ..]
You may be OOW, but, you will still have to babysit your computer IN CASE some work comes through - as per your schedule, unfortunately.

OOW,but I've been told a different story - A planner

I've always been told by my ROM or whatever their title is this week that if there is no work after 15 minutes I can log out and be done for the shift. But, of course, if I leave I earn nada. On Christmas day, that is perfectly fine with me. I've had enough of all this Nuance BS so I'm spending the day with my family and I'm not going to apologize to my ROM who is on yet another PTO.

I was wondering does anybody have a clue why in the world the volumes are so high.  My gosh, I can't give anymore OT than I'm already giving!  Believe me I'm happy for the OT, but was wondering if there are rumors if they let some go or are no longer hiring if people are let go or quit.  Getting worn out! ...

Overnight E-mail Humor About Volumes....
Aug 06, 2013

Who else gets annoyed when you get an overnight e-mail from a team lead or manager stating there is a high backlog on your primary, say maybe 300 reports, and within 2 hours it's down to wiped out?  Do they think we're stupid enough to not realize they are trying to justify sending that work to India by telling the client "well we sent the e-mail out, the Americans didn't get on so we had to give it offshores."  It's really annoying when the account has a 12-24 hour ...

Been Noticing Major Decrease In Work Volumes In West
Sep 08, 2011

just wondering if anybody else in west has been noting marked decrease in work volumes.  My major acct used to have, at least on weekends, 200, 300, and even in the 400 numbers of jobs and lately the weekend work has maybe been 50 at a maximum.   I guess just another acct gone to India.    ...

Can't Tech Support "equate" The Sound Volumes?
May 17, 2015

Do you think Tech Support could adjust the volumes so that the whispered jobs are amplified and the loud jobs are toned down, so there is like one set loudness?  I just had the one guy that you have to turn all the way up because he is across the room.  Of course I forgot at the end that I had the volume all the way up, so the next job literally blew me out of my chair.  I jump up about 4 inches every time this happens.  My heart is still pounding and my knees still shaking. ...

My Christmas Gift
Dec 22, 2009

First, I hope those of you who need to hear this will.  I am not by any means saying what I am to hurt anyones feelings, to be mean, to start a ruckus, as a means of causing some to say hateful things, or to seem "better than."  This, however, is something that those of you looking for work and unable to find a position, need to hear. I recently had an opening for a transcriptionist for my very small buisness and recieved many, many resumes.  Some were wonderful and I wish I coul ...

Of all the MQ employees here scheduled to work on Saturdays, has anyone been approved to have off Christmas Day?  I put in my request exactly 60 days ahead of time (since we can't do it before that) and have yet to hear anything.  My CCM, who is pretty good about responding to e-mails, has not responded to me when I questioned whether I've been approved. So, my question is, has ANYONE gotten the OK to take off Christmas?     ...

In The Spirit Of Christmas

In the spirit of Christmas, I just want to post something positive here.
