BONUS FOR LINE COUNT - SM

Does anyone think Nuance is overhing and keeping the work situation low on purpose so no one will make their weekly line count bonus? My line counts have been so low since the beginning of the year because of this low/no work situation and bouncing between too many accounts. It's like a light bulb just went off. My other thought is that the COM recently hired is completely clueless as to understanding of what an MLSs job is like. Does anyone else feel this or have any other insight they can offer? This cheerleading when sending out the work flow information is bothering me, too. How can they say the accounts look good when there is no work? Good for them? Good for the company? Good for whom? Certainly not good for the MLSs. I'm really getting worried here.

[ In Reply To ..]I work 6 days, 5 hours each day, and to tell you the truth, there has not been one day since the 1st of the year that there are not still 50 jobs in my queue when it's time to log off. (Primary might be done, but still plenty of second and third account reports).

[ In Reply To ..]I think mismanagement is the biggest problem. These people don't have a clue what we do and how difficult it is to bounce between accounts, particularly when the account specifics are so drastically different between them. It is almost impossible to be accurate.

Whoopsie, you will still get pounced on by those eager beaver FIESA enforcers for any weird and unusual specs which they are way familiar with and you are, of course, unfamiliar with.

[ In Reply To ..]You got that right. I have a friend who went over to Nuance (quit the very week I started no less...went to greener pastures) and she was one of their QC people. Said they hound them all the time to enforce any and all errors on people and they have some ungodly quota they have to meet too. They had one lady who was very nice. She would give a comment but wouldn't take any points off unless you just kept on making the same mistakes. Don't know what happened to her. Nothing I ever get anymore is from her. Just the ones that think they have to ping me every time I might not put a comma where it belongs. She probably didn't meet their "evil factor".

[ In Reply To ..]Yeah me too. I think the deal with the line count bonuses is they keep it just beyond reach. I think they sit and cipher this mess out. Then when you just about get to the point where you can claim the bonus, the get the QC gestapo after you and become hypervigilant to every tiny mistake you make or they hear a "THE" instead of "PATIENT" as you transcribed/edited. They always find some way to grab it away. I'm so upset with this place. And no, in answer to the other person's question...am I new to this board. Yes, I kind of am new. I tried to stay away from the boards because they always seemed so full of negative input. My post I entered earlier was negative, but I guess it's the whole thing that has me down. I quit a place because they were losing all of their accounts to EHR and had gone from over 20 accounts to 9 in a matter of 3 months. I hated to leave them but I had to in order to put food on the table for my kids and myself. I was told by 3 people who worked for Nuance (had gone over during one of their buyout things) that they always had plenty of work and when I hired on she told me I would always have plenty work and backup accounts and blah blah blah. Yeah, I have a backup account. Problem is one account went out one week and the backup account all but blanked out this week. HA! It just never stops. All the smaller companies who were once good to work for (few I might add) have either completely fizzled out or have been bought by the big dogs (i.e. Nuance for one) and it leaves us with nowhere to go. I was reading on another post here the person said they were going to go to Scribe school. I guess I will check that out. I really dread having to spend half my day in traffic getting to and from a job, not to mention the gas, corporate clothes, the list goes on and on. I'm a good worker from home. Do not allow interruptions, I just plain WORK! I really don't know what I'm going to do. This is all I have known.

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? Is this correct? I type 70,000 characters a day. I am paid by the 65 character line so I would divide 70,000 by 65 to get 1076, then multiple that by pay per line, say $.10 and get $107. If this is not correct then what is the formula? And what is the average number of lines per day? Thanks so much for the info. ...

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the easiest way to not count template lines when trying to invoice? I get a line count through Word, but I hear that Word counts blank spaces as well. I have been working for this company for about 18 month and so far so good. It was even bought out by a bigger company and everything stayed the same with no problems. They don't bother me, I do my work and everything is fine. I have been told that I need to increase my LPH. So last night I kept track of the lines of each document done by using MS Word. But later when I compared it to Nuance's line tracker (ichart) it only listed half the lines that MS Word listed. How can this be? I realized that Word my count blank lines, but how can there possibly be that much difference? I felt like I really kicked butt last night, but then to look at LPH with Nuance's ichart I felt cheated/ ...

So far, I have calculated the "count score" on Fluency at the new rate of 0.08/.048 vs per report rate. I 'lost' on average $165-175 per pay period over the past 3 months by the line count. My Line Count Has Tanked

I used to do 250-275 lph fairly easily. Lately, I am typing as fast and furious as ever and struggle to get above 200 lph. Not sure what is going on, but I'm pretty sure it ain't me. Also, when did they change the dictating system over to 2 cans and a piece of string? I CANNOT hear this CRAP. Even the American guys are starting to sound wind-tunnelish ...
Receiving Only A % Of Line Count??

Is it typical to only receive a percentage of your edited lines because "editing is faster and better" than straight transcription? I am new to VR, but this seems odd to me. No wonder I am being paid a decent rate. LOL So, when I edit a 50-line report, I only receive 60% of that report. I'm just curious if this across the board with all companies?? ...

What in the heck does .05 for every 43 black characters equal out to. It doesn't sound good but I'm no math whiz. Maybe, I'm missing something and who pays like that.
