is there any kind of computer i should NOT consider getting to work for medquist? i think i heard they aren't compatible with MACs, but as far as PCs go....does Windows 7 work? Vista? XP? all of the above? just want to know what to avoid.

free of charge and the new ones they are sending out have Windows 7, which will be compatible with the new DocQscribe upgrade coming up soon.

Personally, I like having a MQ computer because if anything goes wrong with it (computer, keyboard, foot pedal, etc.) I get paid the downtime while waiting for a new one to be sent out and I don't have to pay for repairs or a new computer..not so if something goes wrong with your own computer that prevents you from working. Plus the fact I don't have their software taking up space on my personal computer.

Right now, MQ platform is compatible with XP, don't know about Vista, and don't know when they roll out the platform upgrade what it will be compatible with other than Windows 7. If you are going to go with your own computer, would get one with a lot of memory and speed. The problem with MQ's older computers is not enough memory to support DocQscribe and that is one of the reasons they are sending out new ones.

The new ones they are sending out are Vista - lightning fast, tons of memory and extremely user friendly. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and I'm in love with it. If I were going to buy one for myself this is exactly the kind I would want.

Same here - you submit a job and instantly there's another one right there waiting. No lag time, no waiting for a job to download, you can literally speed through reports one after the next without even a pause. I hope it makes a difference with my production.

Mine came with Windows 7 - Some Win 7 and some Vista

Why are some people getting Vista and some Windows 7? Does yours take forever to start up? Mine does and support says it is because of all the security stuff they put on it.

I was just wondering how old some computers are that are having problems with 6.1 and if there are people with newer computers that handles it better. Tech support says the Dpcqscribe program will only work with a 32 bit 4 gig computer...Im trying to not have to use their virtual desktop since it is lagging my computer something fierce..So I went to Best Buy today and all they have is 64 bit Windows 7 models..but they did say I could load windows 7 professional on there for another 99 dollars and it will run as a 32 bit...has anyone tried this and had it work??...Ill call tech support in the morning before I invest..I need to get off this craz ...
