Got new mQ computer and - need help please

How do I change the color on DocQscribe from that blinding bright background to nice soft gray? I have no clue how on this machine and my eyes get too sore with the white.

Also, how do I turn off all sounds, if anyone knows.

don't think you can, unless you turn down the - brightness on you monitor. NM

You can get it at steropsis.com. It's so cool. It automatically dims your computer according to your time zone as it starts getting dark. It has totally saved my poor eyeballs.

I worry about putting these kind of random, where did it come - from, programs on my computer. SM

Start, control panel, appearance, personalization, on the bottom WINDOW COLOR (windows 7 basic), then click inside box window text and change the color on Color 1.

Can this be done on Windows XP? I used to do this on the old computers when they had that shell program or whatever back in the day. I even had a variety of backgrounds to change the color to. I would love a soft gray. the docqscribe outline of the demographics is a soft gray but the page itself where you transcribe still looks pretty white to me and a tech said it cannot be changed. I asked about this months ago. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

yes, it can be changed on XP, however, thought they were - all going to Windows 7 now

Do it the same way, go to into start, then control panel, display, appearance, advanced and then pick color. I like a super soft gray, but the number # marks for the number list dont show up as well.

They are only changing out the old PCs with the new ones loaded with Windows 7. Not everyone is getting a new PC - just a few of us so there may be quite a few XP'ers out there.

Hardware and Sound
Under 'Sound,' click on 'Change system sounds'
In the 'Sound Scheme' drop-down box, choose 'No Sounds'

Although on my system the steps were:

Start
Settings
Control Paenl
Sounds and Sudio Devices
Under Sounds tab, Drop down under Sound Scheme, check "No sound".

And Voila....no more gong sounds when I close a file and do a spell check!! Thanks!!!

My original post was in answer to someone who said they just got the 'new MQ computer,' so I was assuming it was loaded with Windows 7. I imagine the steps might be a little different for Vista and/or XP.

I leave my computer up and running all the time. In the past week every morning I am having to reboot because I get an error saying "insufficient system resources to perform this action." I was just wondering how old some computers are that are having problems with 6.1 and if there are people with newer computers that handles it better. Mine is a MQ computer that is 4 years old now and it bogs down quite a bit. Everything is sluggish now. I do have 1 GB of ram and 1.84 GHz, so 6.1 shouldn't take a toll on it as bad as it is. I turned off the "check as you go" spelling feature to get rid of that distracting wiggly red line. When I upload a document, and a mis-spelling is picked up, what's with all the lame suggestions. Does anyone use a Mac for medical transcription with Windows XP and MT software that requires nothing newer than XP? Tech support says the Dpcqscribe program will only work with a 32 bit 4 gig computer...Im trying to not have to use their virtual desktop since it is lagging my computer something fierce..So I went to Best Buy today and all they have is 64 bit Windows 7 models..but they did say I could load windows 7 professional on there for another 99 dollars and it will run as a 32 bit...has anyone tried this and had it work??...Ill call tech support in the morning before I invest..I need to get off this craz ...

I am a new hire at Transcend and would like to use a laptop for work as I visit my kids a lot. What would be the best laptops to buy? Would appreciate if you included the exact name of the laptop and the processor speed.
