A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I'm no longer an MT, but I wanted to share this with everyone to maybe brighten someone's day. I was talking to a client the other day who is being treated for cancer. We got to visiting and I told her I used to be a transcriptionist. She mentioned she obtained copies of her medical record and it was full of mistakes! Wrong meds, incorrect anatomy, etc. Apparently the doc tried to blame an MT. Come to find out an MT had never typed, seen, or edited that report!!! It was done by some "McDonalds-type" (similer to EPIC-which is what happened to my account of 10+ years just before I left) computer-generated report, and simply entered into the patient's file. We all see this train wreck coming.....however, I couldn't afford to wait to see how it all comes out. I do hope to someday be able to use my medical background in some way. I don't hate my new job, and my employer is awesome, I just really miss the medical field and working from home some days. Best of luck to you all!
