Great idea. I work second shift. I always have enough of my own work. We were not behind when I worked yesterday.

Now I log on and I have strange accounts, meaning my production will suck, just so someone could race after what, $5 extra dollars on their paycheck?

MQ really knows how to work us.

Please, Please God, let this be the day I get a call on a job. Don't think I can take one more day here without losing my sanity! :(

Same here ... I've been with Q for over 14 years now.

Probably the reason most of you don't have work anymore is because some of us from other regions are doing it all, LOL. I had the same "primary account" for close to 10 years but I haven't had a primary for over 2 years now. Most days of the week I never do the same account twice and I might do dozens of different accounts in a day anywhere from the west coast all the way to the east coast. It's nice to have work available to me but keeping track of dozens of different client profiles a day is a *TOTAL* production killer and like you, if I make $300 a week it's a great week for me. Works out to about minimum wage or just under.

This is a new account to MQ and they have not been happy since day one. It is over 90% ASR and pretty much micromanaged.

I have also been with MQ for almost 14 years, and it is now a good week for me if I make $300.

Not much more to say. I have been looking for a long time but live in a rural area, and refuse to just find another MT job because sooner or later I will be working for the Q again, my worst nightmare.

My mom, 83, actually told me she wished I would just quit today. Told her I can't do that without a new job. Between a rock and a hard place, but I will not give up.

You would be surprised how much it helps. Before I stumbled on this forum, I beat myself up every single day about my income. "What is *wrong with me* that I can't bring my income up?" I would get out of bed every morning and say "OK today I'm going to work harder, work longer, kill myself if I have to" just to get my income close to where it was. I thought it was ME for YEARS and that I was probably losing my skills. Maybe if I just took one less bathroom break ... worked 10 hours instead of 8 .... or worked on Saturdays ... or participated in the incentive weekends ... I might be able to make what I used to make.

My biggest mistake and biggest downfall was believing the lie that I was being "promoted" by going from MT (at almost $0.09 a line) to MME (at $0.03 a line). They said it was a "raise" because they were going to be opening up a whole new type of work for me (QA) and this is what I would be making *in addition to* my transcription pay. Who wouldn't go for that? It didn't take long for me to see the shrinkage in my checks and then it occurred to me ... I wasn't getting any more straight transcription ... I was getting almost 100% QA work at $0.03 a line, my primary accounts were gone and I was working on dozens of accounts from coast to coast. When the realization hit me what I had done to myself it felt like a kick in the gut.

When I found this forum, I couldn't *believe* everyone else was going through the SAME THING. It was both a HUGE wakeup call for me to make a move to get off the sinking ship (I went back to school), and a HUGE relief to know it wasn't ME not being good enough ... fast enough ... working long enough ... it was THEM. So THANK YOU all for sharing your experiences. I'm incredibly sad for all those transcriptionists out there who don't know about this forum and are out there thinking it's them - that they're not working hard enough or long enough, slaving away for minimum wage and all the while wondering why they can no longer afford to feed their kids. It's a terrible feeling.

Dear Adios, don't ever give up. Years ago I left a job where I was treated nearly as badly as the Q did after "acquiring" Spheris. Guess what, I've just gone back to work for them. It is a totally different atmosphere now, we are valued, respected, hear the words please and thank you nearly every day! Perfec job - no. I miss being an MT, I sometimes miss working from home, but overall, in the big picture I made a good choice... and I STARTED at more than I EVER made as a transciptionist, and for the first time since the Q bought us... my bills are all paid and on time, not in the grace period. I too live in a somewhat rural area, but kept my fingers in lots of pies, watched what was going on, and managed to position myself in the right place at the right time. So get out there, get your foot out the door.. you're mom is right, at 84, she can see what it's doing to you! Best of luck.

Thanks for your response. I am currently working part time at two rural fire houses and figure if I can hang in there, I am meeting a lot of people and getting compliments so it's a matter of time before something else opens up. I am treated well at both fire houses and it is such a breath of fresh air, makes it easier to deal with my very long work week.

I too beat myself up every day thinking it was me. Sad to say I still do somewhat because I keep thinking this can't be happening, there has to be a way to rise above this.

I too am thankful for this board, even if occastionally people get on here and try to knock us back down. We need each other since we are not working side by side and it is so easy for the Q to "play us." And they are very good at that.

I just need to go easy on myself and keep getting my name and rep out there, then wipe me feet off as I leave MQ and not look back.

Amen, BINGO, etc. I had kept lots of contacts, and kept my name out there by working "extra jobs." And, when they needed someone full time at one of them....I WAS THERE! I took a calculated risk, and it paid off! If I can do it, anyone can. Easy, no. Worth it, yes.

I guess we should all feel blessed that we are helping those Indians enjoy their holiday off while we sit here with no work and no pay. Thank you Medquist for taking such good care of we American workers. I won't be able to pay my bills but at least I will know the Indians are enjoying their paid time off. Unless you can only type 1 account for some reason, you should be able to get assigned to an account that needs help or a whole region that needs help.

Sure, everyone has nothing better to do than keep looking for work. I can understand that once in awhile, but on a consistent basis? Honestly, I would have been screwed even worse than I was if that had been my situation the last few months at the Q - trying to balance 2+ other jobs to keep my head above water till one of them went full time, then it was bye-bye Q.

I just finished a 35 minute report by one of the worst dictators on the planet and for all my efforts I get an extra $3.00 for going above my minimum line count for the 2 day incentive.

I can now afford to go to the dollar store and buy $3.00 worth of aspirin to take care of the pain that MQ is causing me.

last night for 3.00 I showed some dude on the internet my "junk" for about 2 minutes - was a hell of a lot easlier! LOL

All those who jump on these pathetic "incentives" are simply enabling MedQuist to continue giving their employees the shaft. That is one area in which we can make our voices heard loud and clear - absolutely nobody working more than their required hours. We're just giving comfort to the enemy.

Work, work work hard for the first day of incentive and then run out of work on the second? Then get an email from the CCM thanking us for our hard work. Seriously? The only one making any money on these incentives are the CCMs because their backlogs look amazing. Amazingly empty. There must be enough MQ cheerleaders and those MTs still drinking the koolaid to justify sending out the "incentive" emails. I agree they must laugh at us- they got the backlog cleared out and probably didn't pay out any more than $3 apiece to the people that actually worked. Stupid slaves is more like it.

This is something that has been bothering me. I feel stupid asking, but since it's rather important, I ask. cpl Currently, I am making 0.083 per line typed. I see people stating things like 7 cpl or .8 cpl. Does that equate to 7.0 per lined type (seems crazy!) and 0.8 per line typed? I'm currently being offered incentive pay for working on my days off. Is transcribing Acute Care notes that much different than clinical notes? I currently transcribe for a family practice and gastro docs who do colonoscopies and minor procedures and have typed for oncologists and cardiologists, gyns, ophthalmologists. Can it really be that much different? I'm asking because I think I could do it. stating too many reports being sent in with blanks. Need to send these to QA/MME/whatever they're called now. Why would we do this and get paid even less for the most horrible dictators, the worst sound quality, nothing in repository to help, being in the cesspool, yadda, yadda, yadda. I finally had got enough 100% post-audits to overcome the critical error that I had the first week of October to bring myself up over 99% and they found 2 critical errors in 1 report that brought me back down to 98%.
