Right-click on red underlined word - Useless

Why is our new dictationary so useless? It shows us a mis-spelled word, so I went ahead and right-clicked on it, and it gave me no options. I mis-spelled finesteride and the correct spelling should have been finasteride. One letter difference and our brilliant Qictionary can't find the correct option??? Had to go to Google to find it, but means extra keystrokes. Why bother to highlight a mis-spelled word?

The red-underline is merely a distraction to me now. Sometimes I need those extra few moments at the end of the document as I spell-check the document. I'd rather type all through the document and then at the end use those extra moments to gather my thoughts instead of rushing through to send it on. Haven't you ever uploaed a document too quickly only to remember something you wanted to change but your fingers flew too fast?

That's why I turned it off. - You do not have to use it.

Go to Tools > Options > General and uncheck the box at the bottom that says spellcheck as you go or whatever the heck it says.

Another option, just ignore the red lines and do the spell check as you normally would. That's what I do. You also have to watch for spellcheck not catching misspelled (mis-cased) drug names. There are quite a few drugs that should be capitalized and it does not catch them. I have written support about them but they continue to be in there.

... to your dictionary as you see them, and they should be detected next time. A lot of drugs don't seem to end up in the dictionary word list, or have cap issues.

Seems like a good enhancement for when you see mispellings that the spell checker doesn't detect is a way to click the word and give the correct spelling/capitalization so that it picks it up next time.

I guess I just don't understand if our computers are so state-of-the-art, if they sense a word is mis-spelled, why can't it just suggest the correct spelling? I'd love to use the right click option, but the dictionary just seems dumber than our old version.

I don't _think_ the spelling engine in 6.1 is different from the 5.x versions, actually.

The reason it detected the word was misspelled is that it didn't find it in its list of all possible words. That's how spellcheck dictionaries work, usually. There also wasn't a word "like" what it found, so that is why it gave you no suggestion.

In ASR, it will highlight the word you double click and also it will put the audio back to that point. In straight transcription, it will highlight the word and take the audio all the way back to the beginning. And they won't fix it! - because I am never to take my hands off the keyboard???!! I had to request a medical report for myself and oh dear lord what a mess that point-and-click stuff is. They check all items in a ROS and the thing throws it all together in giant run-on sentences, separating everything by a comma, and leaving weird spaces everywhere. I think these ideas are getting used interchangeably when they are very different applications. EHR is still transcribed documents, just not paper charts. Facilities have already been on this for a good while now and the transcriptionist will basically see no difference as we don't usually handle a chart anyways in-house or virtually. However, it is the point-n-click programs that are phasing out the transcribed document. ...

Is there a way in AutoCorrect (Word 2010) to change a comma to a period and then cap the next word to make VR go a little faster? The platform at my old company did this automatically, but MS Word does not : ( This is so frustrating having to change from a comma to a period (or vice versa)--which as you all know happens constantly...and then change the next word to be capitalized (or uncapped)....my wrists are killing me, not to mention it takes so much TIME..... I will be changing from Word 2000 to Word 2003 and have a few questions. I am not that great at figuring tech stuff out so hopefully someone will be able to help me.
