Re:paycuts top level - maltesemom

The last pay cut they made to me was with ASR.  they did not touch my transcription rate YET, but I know I read on here someone was at the top of their level as to how much they could make and they went from 0.009 to 0.003.  It sounds like this was the transcription rate?  Did they actually cut some of the MTs base pay to more than half?  This just blows me away if they did this.  I have not been on here too much on a steady basis because I get even more depressed about all of this than I already am and I have to be able to function at my job but I was just wondering what else has happened to some of the others that have been here a while.  I have been here close to 10 years and I know one day they will knock my transcription rate down because the email stated as of now your transcription rate has not been effected.  yeah, not now anyway.

Nobody's transcription pay went from 9 to 3. I think what that person was referring to was that she no longer gets any transcription lines, and all she gets is ASR, meaning that her pay is now 3 cpl!

Okay thanks. Makes me feel a little better. nm - maltesemom

After 14 years with Medquist, my pay went from earning $0.09 a line doing straight typing down to $0.03 a line as an MME. Trouble is, that I barely do any straight typing anymore, maybe only a couple of times a week? My earnings at the $0.09 pay rate totalled less than $50 my last pay check. I used to earn $100-150 a day, now it's a super good day if I earn $60.00, which is 2000 lines - nearly impossible when you get bounced around to dozens of accounts every day.

bottom line, it's just wrong..... - wooly bully

On any level however you analyze it, they are screwing us with their inadequate VR. I think in the last issue of that "For the Record" magazine that we get the editor's note really hit the nail on the head commenting something to the effect that VR was perhaps not the wonderful thing it was put out to be (please don't flame as I don't have the article in front of me but when I read it I thought well at least someone that's in management at least acknowledges this as we all know MQ thinks VR is so great for us and that we should be so productive and make more money with it - NOT!!!!!). MQ and MTSOs are the ones making money as most likely they are probably charging the client the same rate as if it were straight typing, and the MT is the one taking the pay cut, etc. etc. etc....we all know or have experienced the wrongdoings that they are doing to us as a profession in the name of grand old capitalism -- founding fathers are probably rolling over in their graves and rightfully so!

Gonna stop with the vent as you all know the nightmare that we unfortunately all live working for MQ...I know someone will say quit if you don't like it, and I'm working on that, for sure, as there is no hope of bringing back any of the dignity of this job either pay-wise or emotionally-wise.

Good luck to all of us and I hope we all find better options as staying with MQ will only wear you down in every aspect of our lives.

MQ trainer told us have to make up in volume what we lost - in pay rate. She wouldnt lie about it. SM

Her words. As said before, VR is finally so entrenched they feel they can finally tell the truth about it.
the truth shall set you free...? - Former MT
[ In Reply To ..]
Making it up in volume worked for me for a bit, then everytime I even nudged back up to what I was making (which was still way less than what I should have been paid after 10 plus years) I'd get a pay cut to "keep in line with the national average." So where the heck was the incentive to get better, so your rate could get cut, you'ld work harder to break even, then get cut, work harder.... finally my account of 10 years went away one Monday morning "poof" just like that, I decided to go away 2 days later.... to another, better-paying job not in the MT field. I truly believe I will use some of the skills I gained as an MT again someday in some way, and not for the peanuts the Q was tossing me at the end nor will I let myself be tortured like that again. There IS life after being an MT!!!
But on most accounts YOU CANNOT DO IT - no name
[ In Reply To ..]
I understand the theory, but in reality, there is no way to put out 60% more volume when you have to correct so much of it and watch it so closely because it now just makes things up --- it will look feasible when scanning it, but when you hear the dictation you are like "what the heck?" It is not remotely what the doctor said. I cannot nor will I probably ever be able to produce 60% more lines with this technology --- I am fast with it, know all the short cuts, very experienced with transcription, but it is what it is --- tedious and time consuming. Don't get me started on all the ADT information and carbon copy information that I spent 20% of my time on and don't get paid for a single keystroke, but will get fired for quicker than anything else.
Keep trying and cut your own throat - old and burned out
[ In Reply To ..]
That's the MQ philosophy. Every time they lower our rates, they assume we will work longer and harder because we need the money and as long as everyone keeps doing it, the more incentive you are giving them to lower the rates once again. I know everyone needs the money but every time you answer the call to work extra because the account is out of turn, you are cutting your own throat. If at all possible, try to get another part-time job to make up the difference instead of pulling MQ out of the quicksand.

This the only profession I know that cuts pay for using a tool - mouse click manager

ex.. does a mechanic charge you less for plugging your car into a computer to read the troubleshooter? noo....

Do they charge less for robot-assisted surery? Doubt it...

It is absolutely unfair and in my opinion a form of bias.
yes, a mechanic does charge to plug in car - to the computer

Hubby is a mechanic and they do charge for the diagnostics.

And I should add... the computer read out DOES NOT LOOK LIKE ASR either!!!

I am inches from asking to have a demotion promotion back to tier 3. I would earn more or at least the same with less stress. Better yet, I am looking for a way completely out of the biz. They are going to get what they pay for. Harder work + more responsibility + crap schedule = LESS PAY? Hello? And while I am ranting, the ASR stats with "inactive time" are a bunch of BS and, if anything, prove that we are being forced to do a lot of work-related duties for free.

How do you look at your stats? - would like to see mine

[ In Reply To ..]

looking at stats - Frustrated too
[ In Reply To ..]
The stats that they are referring to are included in a periodic email that is sent by MQ regarding production statistics. If you have never gotten one you might check with your CCM. There is no way to look this up on your own, though that actually might be a valuable tool.
oh pulease - North MT

Those reports are bogus for so many reasons. Delete, Delete, Delete. There is no valuable tool that is shown on the reports. They show mouse clicks and key strokes and how long you sat researching without typing. Who cares how many times you click the mouse as long as the report gets done? If they actually showed averages across the board you might know how you compare with other MTs on your account or tier level, but no. These reports are sent out by former QCs who couldn't handle the job and MQ found them a job, simple as that. It is yet another MQ tool of negative criticism without actually being constructive. Yet another way for them to beat down the MTs and make them feel bad and incompetent. There is no point to these reports and it is best to ignore them completely.
PREACH IT!! - Alias

Amen Sista!!! They're going to keep on with this idle mess until they have so many Worker's Comps, they'd wish they hadn't ever started that. I for one AM NOT going to sit there for 2-4 hours at a time without getting up and moving or stretching. You're also right about what difference does it make whether we use 2 or 3 shortcut keys 4 or 5 times to get where you want to go, or click the mouse once to get where you need to be, as long as it gets done? Absolutely ridiculous micromanagement!!!!!
you can't win - North MT
[ In Reply To ..]
My CCM told me to go ahead and punch in and out whenever I got up from the computer- that way it recorded actual work time and I have been able to bring my line counts up to a respectable level. However, then these stupid reports show my idle time to be increased because they count all the time DocQscribe is open. I don't actually log out of DocQscribe when I use the bathroom or fill up my coffee and honestly didn't think I needed to. There was a nasty comment on the last report to reduce my break time. There is no pleasing these people. Even if I chained myself to the chair with a Foley for my entire shift they still would find something to complain about, like mouse clicks. Like I said, best to just delete the report because it is only there to make the MTs angry. Even my CCM said to delete it, she knows, they all know that no one really cares about these reports, they just need jobs for the ex QC people to do.

The production stats just show what big boneheads - the MQ suits are!

[ In Reply To ..]
The only way a production chart like that would work is on a production line where the work is the exact same over and over. Maybe the idiots haven't figured out yet that every week will vary because we do not have the same reports every week! Every time I get one, I laugh becuase they are too stupid to figure that out!
I have never gotten one - just really do not give a crap anymore

Guess it really does not matter anyway. It's minimum wage no matter what you do. Why kill yourself for minimum wage? I guess I'm in the IDGAS mode with them right now.
