does 5 cpl w/o spaces seem low for entry level? - ELMT

Also would not get my first paycheck for 60 days. Does that seem fishy? They also want me to sign a no competition contract that I will not seek employment with another company that could be considered competition for 3 years. Is that normal?

seen a no compete contract and I have worked for hospitals, doctor offices, and several MTSOs.

but I believe it is "no compete" means, not to try and recruit their clients while in their employ or a certain period of time after leaving the job.

Hi,
My first MT job (at home) offered me 5 cents a line as well as the mandatory no compete contract. I desperately needed to work so I accepted the position. I worked for them for a very short time because they were too demanding... I received my first check I think 30 days after I started to work which was also in the fine print on the contract. That was approx. 5 years ago. Today, I would only consider it if I got great benefits, which is impossible. I would not do it because I have come to understand that they want 100% quality work, very demanding, it's my business if I want to work for two companies and you absolutely make no money without killing yourself. But as they saying goes, "bought sense is the best kind". I hope that helps... Good luck.

and would never hold up in court. I have never signed a non-compete clause in this field. I have signed contracts agreeing not to contact my account doctors for 2 years after my employment ends (i.e. trying to steal an account which is a low thing to do anyway) but never a noncompete. They cannot make you promise not to do something that will cause you undue hardship. I can see 3 or 6 months but in this field noncompete clauses are not realistic. So I would tell them no way you are signing that, and that the pay sucks. The lowest I would go is 7 cpl w/o spaces for your first job, but preferably get a job tha pays for them. Good luck.

low pay/contract - Dinosaur

I have never worked for any company that held your pay for 60 days, not even when I was a very young dinosaur working in a retail store. It is usually 1 pay period that is held whether it be 1 week or 2, but 60 days is ridiculous.

The starting pay is extremely low, even for someone new to the field. The other poster is right, 7 cpl is average for a new person to the field.

I had worked at a place for many years and after the company was bought by someone else they made us sign a non-compete form but it was only for a 6 month period of time. This non-compete contract was not that we could not work for someone else, it was meant to stop people from leaving that employer and starting their own MT company and trying to hire the former employers MTs.

I would not take this job, but if you have no choice at least check them out thoroughly. How long have they been in business? Have they had any complaints filled against them by former employees or clients? Good luck.

Very excessive terms and pay is beyond low. I say don't do it. I don't care how desperate you are, hold out for something better. It seems fishy and exploitative.

It seems that more and more companies, including some hospitals, are paying per line but then expecting you to do data entry, which of course you are NOT paid for. He's referring to a Digoxin level and shortens it to say "s/l Dij level". I realize that it's probably not spelled with the j, but if I write it Dig level, then it's like digging with that "g" sound....would you leave it "Dig level"? ...
