Oh goody, another work around because IT cannot get it right! - even a year later

Posted: Dec 03, 2013

Just informed that, if you do not have the accelerate silent audio turned on under tools AND you disable it for every single report, there will be dictation audio skipped over. And, of course, there goes your audit score! So sick of this. Most of the IT personnel should be fired for their exceptionally poor performance, especially as it affects patient care.

So - stupid

and just having it disabled isn't enough..you have to have it enabled and then disable it at the beginning of the report...lol. Makes sense

Are you sure that is what he said - sm

I can never understand Phil in India, last resort that I go to for help. They are clueless, all they do is hear your problem and then search for an answer from a standard format and read directly, throw them a curveball and they are totally LOST. Here's an idea..fire the Phills, give us access to the forms they have and then give us a pay raise cause I can figure it out better than they can anyway, I read and speak fluent ENGLISH...

It was an e-mail and the way I understand it.... - Trampled underfoot

You have to have the box checked and manually disable it at the beginning of each report (not uncheck the box but use a keyboard command) or you're liable to have sound issues with it speeding up so you don't hear parts of the dictation. Yeah, right. Like I'm going to remember to do that on EVERY report!

But you can't uncheck the box under options; that still causes sound issues. It's a new level of bizarre!
No only disable it if you hear a skip - is my understanding

If you hear the sound kind of skip, do Ctrl ; to toggle the accelerate silence playback on and off. That's what I took it to mean. If you toggle it off when you hear that little skip, it fixes it. Then toggle it back on the same way. I will give them this: When that accelerate silence playback is ON, it moves right through those doctor hems and haws so seamlessly you won't even notice it.
True, but.... - Trampled underfoot

It sounded to me like they were saying you might not notice the sound skip and it acted like if you are missing small words (and subsequently failing audits!) it's safest to turn it off for each report.
I think I'd ignore that - sm

This accelerate silence playback is one thing that actually DOES work and increase production, and I so seldom hear skips and need to toggle it off, I think it just makes more sense to leave it on green.
I will be ignoring it! - Trampled underfoot

Like the initial poster said, one more problem with the program that WE are responsible for, rather than fixing the source.
OK I am confused as always - sm

What would the reasoning be to turn it on and off, if it makes the sound better, wouldn't you just leave it on all the time? This company and their rule and CPs and computer problems is just more than this old mind can handle.
Nevermind, I see it goes off automatically - each time. nm

Accentus here but we did use M*Modal and same thing - anon

We were failing audits because they said they could hear things we couldn't. We had been told a long time ago to turn off the accelerate silent audio, but now we were told if the dictation sounded garbled or audio was bad we were to go in (and in our case it was more complicated) to the tools, then audio preferences, then turn ON the audio accelerate, hit "apply" wait a second and then disable it again, his "apply" again and NOT enter (no fast keyboard commands around this)....no they never got it fixed, and now we just switched to Nuance platform and it is way worse than M*Modal so I was checking here to see if things are any better. Think I will be heading to the employment agency and taking any job I can get. I am taking a class on Excel spread sheets as many jobs require this and they test you at the employment agency. Our supervisors had the gall to blame us for these problems!
