OK, I checked my statistics for - Not feeling the warmth

Posted: Mar 04, 2010

1-1/2 days of work.  Out of 50 reports I sent 4 to QA (none of which were able to be filled in by QA). The reports I sent to QA totaled over 200 lines!  I did the calculations (lines done divided by lines sent to QA x 100) and I came in over 10%.

It is a no-brainer...MQ says they trust me to make the decision to send blanks to QA or the customer, so I will no longer be sending many reports (especially the long ones) to QA once this process is put in place.  I was absolutely shocked to see how easy it will be to go over that 5% as I did not think I sent too many reports to QA and all were legitimate blanks.

I spoke to a lawyer friend and she said it sounds like I should have no problem getting unimployment, or even filing a wrongful termination suit, if fired for sending too many reports with blanks to the customer because this is a very gray area what they are asking us to do by making the decision to send or not.  As to getting fired for going over the 5% she is not sure about that, but says that companies have the right to put policies like this into place and they are legal.  She also suggested I look for other employment, which I am going to actively pursue now. MedQuist's loss of a long-time good MT with audits in the 99% range, very sad.

I have good accounts (ASR included) and a wonderful management team and love my job, but with the threat of this kind of pay cut and/or other disiplinary action that can affect my ability to gain other employment that is a deal breaker for me.

no love here either - NE MT

The sad thing is on our conference call the CCM made it sound like no big deal for us to get paid 3 cents less. That is a 75% pay cut! She kept saying, only on the lines over the 5% or 10%, but seeing as she never was an MT she has no clue. They are leaving us no choice here- abandon reports, guess, close gaps, compromise patient care or take a 75% pay cut. Time to leave.

Please tell me how you figure that out. - JUST me

Does the # of lines in THAT report that gets sent to QA get figured into the equation? I just can't figure out how it works. Someone mentioned to avoid long reports and then someone said, no, that isn't how it works (meaning if you have a long report, and you send it to QA, then the entire length of that report counts against you).

Fill me in. I don't get it.

Yes, the lines in the reports that are sent to MME. - The total lines are added up in the report.

[ In Reply To ..]
Whether you have one blank or 20 blanks it doesn't matter.

If you send a 5 page report to MME, then ALL of the lines in that report are tallied up.

You compare all the lines sent to MME to all the other lines you typed. The lines you sent to MME should remain under 10%, and then 5% when that date kicks in.

A couple long winded reports with one blank in each, will bag you that pay deduction. It is deducted from the total lines -- each line -- send to MME.

Great, isn't it? It is not hard to add up the lines. Pick your help very carefully, guess, or send a blank to the client. I would say -- send a ton of blanks to the clients -- don't guess no matter what. Too risky.

% not figured on a per report basis - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
The 10% and 5% are figured by taking your weekly lines not your per report lines.
Then how do they figure how many lines you sent to QA? - Just wondering?
[ In Reply To ..]
They take your weekly lines against what?
Yes, they add up all the lines of the reports you have sent to QA - for the entire week.
[ In Reply To ..]
And compare it to your total lines for that week. The total of the lines sent to QA cannot be more than 5 and 10%.

This is how my QTL said they are doing it - Not feeling the warmth

[ In Reply To ..]
Take the total number of lines sent to QA and divide by total number of lines typed, then multiply that number by 100, equals QA submission rate. This is going to be done on a weekly basis, Sun. through Sat.

what? - planetspinz

so let me see if I get this - if I have one QA on a report with 1000 lines, all 1000 lines are counted?

you know this all seemed familiar to me - I think we went through this before when we were still using telephones and the original program - and we put in 10 blanks where we didn't get something, and including a s/l in the QA - and they realized that this was not working

By this time next year (or in 6 months) they will have a new CEO who will bring a whole new team of people who don't have a clue about how this business works.
All lines sent to QA over the 10% now and 5% - Not feeling the warmth
[ In Reply To ..]
later for any given week (Sat. through Sun.)will have 3 cpl subtracted from your pay. Depending on the number of reports sent to QA for the week, you could very easily go over 5% depending on the length of those reports. If those reports are ASR, then you typed them for free!

MQ is not going to keep MTs very long with this in place. High turnover equals poor quality equals unhappy clients...implosion in the making.

ASR Statistics - I Don't Get It.
Jul 16, 2012

I don't understand the difference between (statistics for production including inactive time) "Your Gross/Active Lines Per Hour" and "M*Modal Average Gross/Active Lines Per Hour". The counts are different with the "M Modal" lines being less. Then there is (statistics without inactive time, ie what they think you should be producing) "Your Net/Keyboard Lines Per Hour" (-inactive time) and "M*Modal Average Net/Keyboard Lines Per Hour". The counts are different with the M Modal count be ...

DEP MT's And ASR Productivity Statistics
Nov 11, 2011

Does anyone get emails weekly or every other week with their statistics for DEP and ASR?  I've been getting these and it includes suggestions to get more productivity such as, using left/right arrows, ctrl+shift+left, etc.  It also give me total gross AST activity length, length of time an ASR job is open, length of time spent making changes to an ASR, total inactivity length.  I don't know what to think about this, except that they want more work out of me. ...

Production Statistics
Jun 21, 2012

Here's what I think is the reason for the production statistics and what I think is going to happen this summer.  I believe that MM will say they are reducing ASR pay to 4 cpl across the board and that we can all increase production by following the recommendations in their emails.  I hope I'm wrong but if this happens and I get 2/3 of what I am making now, they will get 2/3 of the editing I am doing now until they figure it out and fire me.  ...

Interesting Statistics Regarding ESL Physicians
May 08, 2011

If you think you are getting more and more ESL dictators, you are probably right.  According to a public website, there were 2130 Visa petitions/applications and 748 Green Card petitions/applications for PHYSICIANS for the year 2010 alone.  That does not include all the ESL physicians that came into the United States over the previous years.  Yes, some applications were denied, but why do these hospitals feel they need that many foreign physicians to begin with.  If you are ...

ASR Productivity Statistics Rant
Oct 25, 2011

Regarding ASR productivity statistics, measured in ines and hours.  If the goal is to minimize the difference between gross and net LPH by decreasing inactivity length, then instruct all dictators to stop eating, talking to others, pausing, etc when dictating, and stop telling me to limit my time spent researching in one instance and then in another I'm being told to use the multiple resources available--you can't have it both ways! Regarding total mouse clicks:  Get real!&n ...

ASR Proficiency Statistics - So Much Wrong With This!
Nov 16, 2012

I scored low in everything - key strokes, playback speed, editing while audio is playing, etc. Everything they advise plays havoc with accuracy!!!! If I did what they advise me to, I would flunk an audit so bad. I might as well just read the document and edit what looks wrong. Nevermind that reading the document won't do any good because ASR leaves out text, adds text, puts in wrong numbers in the labs, etc. ...

Fluency's Statistics Inaccurate
May 22, 2013

I've noticed for about a month now that when I compare the number of jobs I've done per day on my daily log sheet to Fluency's, it doesn't match. There are usually one or two, sometimes three jobs fewer than what I've actually done. I figure I'll only get minimum wage anyway, so I haven't reported it, but I would like credit for what I do. I wonder if there's a way someone else can be syphoning off my completed work and getting credit for it. ...

How about giving me some straight typing and compare that productivity rate to the ASR productivity rate????? But they can't take the truth! Bureau Of Labor Statistics Inaccuracy?
Jan 13, 2014

I'm a pretty new MT. I've only been working for about a year. I didn't know how little I was going to make when I trained for this--more or less minimum wage. If one were to research it even today on the Internet, they wouldn't know either by looking at government site Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to its site, the median wage in May,2012 is $34,020. That would make it about $18.00 hour, which I'm sure would make you all stop complaining. So has medical tran ...
