Got an e-mail from what used to be TSM and now has the title to Healthcare Documentation Services Manager. HMMMMM.

The email did say that there was no change in job responsibilities, just the title. Why change it then?

She didn't send an e-mail about it - it was just at the bottom of her title on an e-mail she sent out this morning.

I can't remember what TSM stands for. Did they take out the word transcription?

Also, just wondering who owns MModal now. Is it now US owned?

She was great and sounded like she had a farm, etc., plenty to keep her busy, another source of $, like she'd be able to kiss 'em off. If you do get KM, buy a lottery ticket cuz back-to-back good supervisors at MM isn't just good luck, it must be a miracle!

Seriously, I see a lot of words in there such as: Specialist Expertise Skills Knowledge Critical information Accuracy and completeness Well educated/well trained Oh...and this, "Healthcare documentation specialists are second only to physicians in the amount of content inputted directly into the EHR." Sounds like MTs are evolving into what is apparently a pretty important job with serious responsibilities. So why, why, WHY in the name of all that is good on Earth are we being paid ...

When you transcribe a doctor's name in the body of the report, do you always need to transcribe the doctor's full name and title, even if not dictated as such - for example, would you need to transcribe "Adam Adams, MD" even if just dictated as "Dr. Adams," and look up the full name and title? I'm always required to do so but can't find it in the BOS. I'm new so I don't know if this has been posted yet. Thanks. ...

Nuance STARTS their equivalent of CCMs at 45,000/year, salary. No need to worry about PTO, sick time, etc..you just get your salary no matter what. I am assuming Mmodal is right around there..which quite frankly makes me ill and madder than hell. I do not begrude anybody their due..but the chasm..GIANT chasm between highly trained MLS and pretty much schedule keepers is so patently unjust I do not think I will ever get out of this vortex of bad morale I am sinking in. ...

What is the actual title of the Book of Style? I see The Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd Edition - Paperback (June 15, 2008) by Lea M. Sims and John H. Dirckx and I also see The AAMT Book of Style: A Searchable Medical Transcription Style Guide (2nd Edition) - CD-ROM (July 21, 2005) by American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT).
