After pushing and pushing for offshore now ADHI wants to help "rebrand?" Please. They are just a bunch of old biddies who still want to go back to typewriters and correction tape. But they want your dues and want to have a strangehold on certification. Who cares what they call us? Our position went from respected to laughed at. Thanks ADHI.

This reminds me of the fancy schmancy 4-star restaurant I went to many years ago on vacation where I was greeted by a lady in professional "service attire" in the bathroom who handed me a handtowel to dry my hands on after washing. Her main job was to fold and stock bathroom handtowels and to hand one to each woman coming out of the stall. Believe it or not, she even had a *business card* in a little stand next to her with the title "Executive Bathroom Attendant".

The thing was, it was just a very official-sounding title that made her feel important but it just goes to show you whatever they "call us" today, it still boils down to the fact that we're just like that lady in the bathroom - we may have a big fancy title but we're really just doling out the towels to people in the crapper.

Seriously, I see a lot of words in there such as: Specialist Expertise Skills Knowledge Critical information Accuracy and completeness Well educated/well trained Oh...and this, "Healthcare documentation specialists are second only to physicians in the amount of content inputted directly into the EHR." Sounds like MTs are evolving into what is apparently a pretty important job with serious responsibilities. So why, why, WHY in the name of all that is good on Earth are we being paid ...

When you transcribe a doctor's name in the body of the report, do you always need to transcribe the doctor's full name and title, even if not dictated as such - for example, would you need to transcribe "Adam Adams, MD" even if just dictated as "Dr. Adams," and look up the full name and title? I'm always required to do so but can't find it in the BOS. I'm new so I don't know if this has been posted yet. Thanks. ...

Nuance STARTS their equivalent of CCMs at 45,000/year, salary. No need to worry about PTO, sick time, etc..you just get your salary no matter what. I am assuming Mmodal is right around there..which quite frankly makes me ill and madder than hell. I do not begrude anybody their due..but the chasm..GIANT chasm between highly trained MLS and pretty much schedule keepers is so patently unjust I do not think I will ever get out of this vortex of bad morale I am sinking in. ...

What is the actual title of the Book of Style? I see The Book of Style for Medical Transcription, 3rd Edition - Paperback (June 15, 2008) by Lea M. Sims and John H. Dirckx and I also see The AAMT Book of Style: A Searchable Medical Transcription Style Guide (2nd Edition) - CD-ROM (July 21, 2005) by American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT). One is by AAMT and one is not - I am assuming the AAMT is the Book of Style everyone refers to? I am buying this for someone and want to ...
