I worked for the Q for many, many years, then left. I went into another line of work for a while, then for reasons I won't go into, that didn't work out. I decided to give Amphion a try. They do require few hours (35-40) which I like, but they have a crazy, convoluted way of figuring your "adjusted lines." The work has been easy so far, mostly clinic notes. However, they do not pay anything extra for working on holidays and if you don't make the quota for the pay period, you get zero PTO for that pay period, which sucks. Plus I've been running out of work, which happened very rarely for me at the Q., so that messes you up on making quota. Hospitals don't shut down for holidays; they may slow down, but not shut down. Clinics shut down, so you're looking at slow work for 2 or 3 days when there is a holiday. I've worked not only for the Q but also probably the 2nd largest transcription company, which I won't name, but it was not much better. On the accounts I had there were lots of ESLs, plus IMO I had a micromanager. My account manager was not very understanding when I was going through a close relative with cancer. I regret now not taking off more to help him because he was Stage 4 when diagnosed and we lost him so quickly. If I had it do over I would definitely do things differently. So think before you leave the Q. Sure some are having their pay cut, but these other companies are not paying any better, at least not that I've found. At least not for a work-at-home position.
