I heard from the Time Lord - mom2huskies
Posted: Jun 22, 2015
I asked if I could flex a couple of hours tomorrow. Of course, I was shot down. I was told that was a last minute request. However, she was off all last week.
There going to make it where no one will ask for - these types of things ahead of time

just wait until the day it is needed and say it is an emergency. Same thing with PTO, if people keep getting told no, they will just not even ask and just call in sick. Then Time Lord will not even be able to make a plan ahead of time. Serves her right.
Since we are in OT, I do not even ask. - LDSMT

I start my shift early and leave if I need to, then come back and make up the time at the end of shift. (I'm just pretty much working whenever and as much as I can anyway.) I don't really see how it much matters when we work since they can't seem to keep up with the work anyway. You would think they would rather you flex, rather than call in sick and not work at all, which is what I would do if they want to play hardball, or you could have a power or internet outage, which is completely out of your control. ;)
thats what i do also. I dont even clock out most of the time - x

I have had them call to ask why the system shows I was working at a certain time and my time card did not show I was, which would be the opposite scenario, but they do have the ability to see that you were not working when you said you were.
flexing hours - sm

I am not sure who your "time lord" is, but our pod has a really nice one who sent this out just a short time ago. This is not the whole e-mail, but the most important part to the subject you are all talking about.
Just a reminder, I do not need an e-mail if you need to flex your schedule a bit on any day so long as you are getting your hours in. She basically also says as long as you do not do this any more than twice a pay period you will not show up on the "schedule compliance tracker". Only if you do not make up your time on the same day, that is when you need to do the stupid schedule swap, so flex away on any given day just don't do it more than twice a paycheck.

The hoops I've had to jump through to get an hour or 2 off is INSANE. The fact that they expect you to predict things so far in the future is RIDICULOUS. Who plans things that far in advance? Other than big things like out of town vacations or reunions, most things that come up in your day to day life are within a week or 2. I've been turned down for flexing my schedule so many times, I've just come to expect it. The few times it was approved it was because she had no choice, it was an emergency but I got a verbal smackdown about planning things in advance. I apologize for being unable to plan emergencies. Don't you think if I could plan an emergency...I wouldn't.
Whatever pod you're in...I WANT IT.
I want it----reply - sm

I suggest just do it. What this is saying to me is that she is not going to notice and you are not going to come up on the "compliance tracker." With them keeping track of 400 MTs in each POD, do you really think she would notice?? I think it must be company policy and she is just not saying so. How can things be so different from POD to POD. That in itself is totally unfair. I would even mention what I said above if she questioned it and tell her why can one POD have a flex policy and not ours?
Thats what i came to say. How on earth could they possibly - track every single person they have

if you flex a couple hours here or there?? it's insanity at it's finest.
They get a print out of every variance. - dnr

Time czar has let us know that she gets a report of everyone who has had any variance from assigned hours.
MM has software that tracks every little statistic you can think of, and it sends reports to each manager, time czar, etc as it relates to their position. Heck, they even send us those "Smart Summaries"with our personal quality and line count statistics. (Which I don't find useful at all, so just ignore.)
Even when you do try to plan things in advance the PTO request sits unanswered - in another POD
[ In Reply To ..]
Our time person left over a month ago to take over another POD. So all the time requests just sit unanswered. Not denied but not granted either.
So I played their game and requested in advance, but it still sits. I don't know whether to make different plans or just take off anyway as I had requested months ago.
In your same POD. - LDSMT

I would just take off anyway. I also have a request sitting there not being addressed one way or the other. It is frustrating to say the least. This having to plan everything 2 months in advance in order to even have a chance at getting something approved is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I normally don't advocate game playing or lying, but with this company when you have an emergency or last minute event, you just have to do what you have to do. Certainly at this point, they are not in a position to fire a good employee over taking PTO when they need it.
U must be in my POD - sm

they have been very lenient so long as you do all your hours
I thought you can request flex time on the swapboard or something now. - Turkleton

That's what my scheduler told me. I sent her an e-mail about flexing schedule and she said I should do that on the swapboard and if nobody picks up my hours, they won't hold me responsible for those hours. So that's what I've been doing (by the way I saved that e-mail) ;)
Pruritus ani. I Googled it to make sure I had everything spelled right. The first thing that came up was "pruritus ani = itchy butt". Got a good laugh out of that. I think one of my dogs has that problem. ...
Been sitting here 3 hours with mostly NJA. Got a moron doing venous Dopplers on an account not familiar to me. I couldn't even understand the patient's names (of course, there was a string of them in a row all on the same report), much less much of what he was dictating, even though I have done venous Dopplers for years. Just waiting and hoping for work and get a friggin' Japanese girl who literally sounds like she is about 4 years old. I know I am getting ...
So, the deal is that this patient had a turkey dinner in her fridge for a month, ate it and got food poisoning (doh!). Dictator is ESL, of course.
"ADMISSION DIAGNOSIS:
1. Food poisoning due to eating an old male."
I fell OUT of my chair.

Once again, whoever is writing this drivel needs fired and spread out their salary to those actually working. Just when I think I can't get any more fed up. . . ...
Looks like it's going to be another one of those days ... there should be plenty of work after the maintenance last night but nope, single jobs available in most of the western facilities.
Pathetic. ...
If anyone knows of a hospital, clinic, or large practice offering remote full-time or part-time employee positions, I would really appreciate an email. I have the sudden need to help support a family member long term (in addition to myself) and really need to find a long-term remote employee position for the stability. Yes, I watch all the various employment sites and even individual hospital sites, but I was hoping that maybe, just maybe someone who works for a hospital that does th ...
Has anyone working for an MTSO been downgraded from full-time status to part-time status based on not enough hours worked to be considered full time, yet making well above the minimum amount of earnings required for full-time status?

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. I had to start work several hours early because of maintenance, so all hours were completed before the hour my hours start showing up on the next day. Fine. But the last couple hours of yesterday show up as today, ...
Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. The difference adds up to a significant amount over time. I am really suspicious about being jypped paywise. ...
I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. I seem to remember an obscure policy that if you were full time and then went to part time, you could not go back to full time for a period of at least 1 year. Can anyone verify that for me? IF, and this is a big IF, I were to go back to work for MQ, I would need to be full time. ...
is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Like I'm going to remember 6 months from now to ask for my PTO in CST time when I am in EST time zone. MQ is the screwiest company I have ever worked for. ...
Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. I am thinking of cutting down to part time at my current employee so I can work part time elsewhere and eventually just leave my current employee once I see how the land lays elsewhere. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated :) ...
Since part-time is generally considered 20-25 hrs. per week, does that mean that full-time is anything over 25 hrs. per week or does it have to be a flat 40 hrs? ...
I am strongly considering going to part-time, just hoping to get opinions from anyone who has gone from full-time to part-time or opinions from anyone who has just always been part-time. Thanks! ...
Would anyone be willing to post info on this? I am considering switching to part-time. Wondering how amenable the company is to such requests. If you have done this, were you able to keep same schedule or were you forced into a different schedule? Thanks for any thoughts!

Has anyone been allowed to go from full-time to part-time employment with Nuance? Were you able to keep the same basic schedule? I won't be ready to do this until early next year, so not asking HR at this point.
Thanks for any responses! ...
I see the post about going from full to part time, but what about the opposite? For example, if I get hired at 30 hours per week and I have extra time available for a few weeks, can I consistently work more hours than those scheduled 30 hours? Thanks for any insight you can give. ...
I am still debating whether to enroll at Andrews or M-TEC. My husband is retiring in 2 years and I want to be able to work part-time after that. Is it realistic to think that I can complete the course at Andrews or M-TEC in 12 months at the most, work full time for a year and then part-time after that. I would want to be able to work from home. I guess the other question is "How long after graduating could I expect to earn enough to make it worth the investment, in a reas ...
I hired on at full time but want to drop 2 hours off a day. Do they make you change shift or accounts in that case? I don't want benefits so don't care about that.
I worked at Nuance and any change in schedule ultimately ended up in an account and/or shift change.

from full time to part time w MM? I am so burned out trying to work full time hours, I honestly think I would get the same pittance of a check working part time. Thanks. ...
For those who went full time to part-time with MQ (because you got another job)...how did that work? Did they approve the schedule you wanted, or did they make you take a schedule? My CCM told me in my area there is no more flexible part-time available but could do regular 24 hour part-time...she said she would have to approve my schedule if and when I do this. I may be doing two part-time jobs to start and I am trying to figure out how to do my scheduling around both jobs.
