I feel so defeated... - rb

Posted: Mar 19, 2013

So, I just started for MModal and completed my  two day training. All of my class, with the exception of me, were already employees and were just changing platforms. My training was tailored to just showing the shortcuts of the programs, but not anything of the work flow, processes, etc. I feel so defeated. I have never felt like I do not think I would be able to do this. I did IT for one of my last jobs and helped create an accounting program for a corporation from the ground up. I cannot even start the job I have in my queue to practice!! they have made this program so complicated when it does not need to be. I feel like I made a bad decision going to work for them and that I am being setup to fail with this program (fluency).

Just needed to get that out there and if anyone has the same feelings.

Feel so defeated - me too

I always feel that way when starting a new job. It seems like everyone else knows so much more than I do, and it's terribly discouraging, but don't give up. It will fall into place. Just do one step at a time - click Control/W to download the job, fill in the ADT screen, then Alt/O to start the job. When the job is completed, click Control/U to spell check, then Alt/Y to send off. Your work will be checked by QA for a couple of months so it's okay to make mistakes for awhile. I've been with MModal for 2 years but there's still a lot I don't know compared to the other MTs, but I manage to get by.

thanks - rb

I just started a new job working in-house in September last year. They went to speech recognition and decided not to keep their transcriptionists. I was so proficient and such a quick learner that I was put into the next step within a few weeks. I am looking at this program and thinking "wtf".

I think your words on help are more informatitve than my 2 days of training!

not sure why I got a "dislike" for this. - rb

Not sure why someone would feel the need to "dislike" this post.

Maybe either because they're STILL hiring when we have no work or - sm

they dislike that you feel defeated.

You obviously have the intelligence to do the job. - You just need a little help.

I see another poster has filled you in on some basics. Please don't let new-employee jitters get the best of you. I don't work for MM, but I can identify with those feelings when you're at a new job and you feel overwhelmed.

Ask questions when you don't understand something--if not from your supervisors, then on the MT Stars boards. People here really seem to want to help each other out.

Best of luck to you!

There is manual & training material at the MM intranet site. - dnr

I'm not at my work computer, but either your TSM (manager) or QA can give you the site URL for the intranet and how to log in. The training material is under Human Resources. Of the top of my head, I can't remember all the clicks, but it is under MT learning. If you had to sign the HIPPA and employee policy online, it is in the same area. I keep a copy of the PDF DQS 7.2 manual and keyboard shortcut list on my computer for easy reference. It is still called DocQScribe at the intranet site as the haven't updated the site. There are training videos there too.

DING DING DING!!! You have just summarized MModal's Mission Statement!!!

DQS 6was so much better. They really messed it up in 7. - dnr

I could write such a long list, and they didn't fix any of them in 7.2.

Some of things they broke, IT has flat out stated they will not fix.

They recently broke a part of ADT, at least in our group, causing us to have to re-enter every doctor. It has been a while since they were supposed to fix
it. I have my doubts that they are even working on it.

I am grateful for 7 and beyond, for the most part. - anon

I trained on 6, transferring from Cornerstone, but fortunately they went to 7 before we actually switched over. Many of the changes are more consistent with how things work in Cornerstone and are so much easier than 6 was. I was really dreading the switch and was pleasantly surprised when we moved over to find it a much easier transition than it would have been. I do find it completely annoying though to have to repopulate the ? doctors names, and on my main account we have to enter cc's for every single report since the client doesn't like they way they come out when they are automatically generated. Why they would come out different is completely baffling to me. Not getting paid for cc's and having to enter them even when they should be automatically generated is beyond ridiculous. I complained loudly with the survey, and sure hope that is something they are looking at with compensation.

the commands you don't already know. The key commands for Windows are the same throughout the Windows system, with very few exceptions. Ctrl + A still selects all, Ctrl + V pastes, deleting words, navigation, all work the same. The differences for Fluency are mostly related to the ADT screen navigation, and some of the commands for VR. Make a list of the most important non Windows commands, the ones you will need to get started and use most often. There are some commands listed that I still never use as they seem inefficient, at least for me. I think you will find once you eliminate the Windows navigation commands you already know, it will not seem as overwhelming.

Does Anyone Else Feel This Way? (sm)
Aug 26, 2011

Today is payday. Never knowing what it will be until I check my bank account, I get this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach while logging on to my bank's website. It's sort of like butterflies, but not as pleasant a feeling!  This morning, I took a look at the last five deposits. Most are within 20 or 30 dollars, but they all are getting progressively smaller, smaller, smaller. Compared to two years ago, it's literally half of what I was making. Egads! Soon I will be p ...

I know a lot of you work for companies right now that do not have enough work and I can truly empathize with you, have been in that boat as well. But the company I work for begs us to do overtime every single solitary weekend, aka Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have been in this field for almost 30 years and quite honestly I am burnt out. I put in my 40 hours a week and feel the rest of my life is my time. I have neck problems and back problems as well, but still manage to do my best and am also ...

Who are actually listening and believing this BS that WMJ is spewing out. She or he does NOT have your best interest at heart. If you choose to do the sick out I can guarantee that you will not have a job when you try to log back in on the 2nd. We work in an at will employment job. They can lock you out and not even give you a reason for letting you go. We do not have a union which would protect you in a strike situation though I for one still would not want to be in a union because they ar ...

I am so sick and tired of this work, this company, and really hate sitting down here every day for the past 20 years.  It gets harder each day with every new rule, policy or threat we receive.  Whether there is work or not, I feel the same way - I am so burned out on this garbage.  I am still far from retirement and really trying to find a way to refocus myself to concentrate on this mind-numbing drivel that ASR puts out.  I am so sick and tired of putting in commas, taking o ...

How Some Docs Feel About EMR.........
Apr 03, 2010

Had an appt with my doctor; she was slowly typing as we talked.  I asked her how she liked typing her own records.  She said she hates it but has no choice as it is required now.  Apparently some companies are telling the hospitals that EMR is required by law.  That isn't exactly true, and the companies (such as MQ) do a lot of fibbing and twisting of the truth.  While it will be required that medical records be electronic....HOW they get there is where they are fib ...

I used to love transcription. I felt competent and like I was doing a service to patients by making their medical records into an understandible format. When I was working oftentimes I would be "in the zone" and time would pass by quickly. I felt proficient. After working for MedQuist for 6-odd years, I'm sick of them, sick of transcription in general. I Feel Cheated
Dec 10, 2011

I'm on a huge account with a huge company (the one that is taking over the planet right now).  Most of the time I get editing and I have to really scramble to make enough, because of course they pay less than half what I used to get for straight transcription.   But this morning I got lucky and pulled up a discharge that was straight transcription that was 21 minutes long.  I finished the whole thing and tried to upload it.  EditScript gave me a message that it was not ...
