MQ bought out the company I was working for and I interviewed with EMT and almost took the job. The recruiter even talked bad about MQ at the time. I bet she didn't realize they were about to be bought out. Geez. MQ is buying out everyone!

I feel blessed to have dodged that bullet along with Execuscribe! That was another one I almost went to work for. whew!!!!

All I know is that any company associated with MQ-I - DONE!

want NOTHING to do with. I would rather live on unemployment than work for them. Check this out, when I recently had to apply for unemployment because of MQ for the first time in my life after 40 years of working, the unemployment office had actually heard of Medquist-that was astonishing to me!

In fact, if I HAD to work for them, I would NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES because your time is limited there. Once they figure they don't need you, or send your acct to India, you are done, WITHOUT NOTICE!

They (the Q) are scumbags and we are nothing to them. I would be embarassed to work for them at this point and have actually taken them OFF my resume. I experienced their unethical/inhuman behavior earlier this year and am still trying to pick up the pieces months later. Karma is a b___h, and their time will come!

Furthermore, to those MTSOs selling out their employees, shame on you for allowing this to happen to this industry for a few bucks in your pocket! YOU (MTSOs) are the real ones to blame because MQ couldn't do what they are doing without your cooperation.

To anyone considering MQ, you have been warned-just read the boards.

What if the company had actually been formed by disgruntled former MQ employees who started their company out of frustration? And then, 5 years, 10 years... later... Found themselves on the receiving end of a buyout offer by the very company they left because they hated it, and started a new company because they wanted to do something different?

I know that might not make a whole lot of sense, but it's possible! Perhaps a happy entrepeneur started a new company out of frustration, did so well with it that 10 years later it became a target of the Squid's interest, sold, and voila! The former frustrated employee just became a millionaire. That is a form of justice for somebody, right? Even if the frustrated employee's new employees don't see it quite that way....

MQ to sell out to if it is a MUST that will treat their employees better than MQ. How about the MTSOs supporting each other, X-selling out MTSO, Y=other MTSO, Z=M!

X wants to sell out, Y is reputable and wants new business with plenty of loyal hardworking MTs, X and Y make a deal which supports both AND Z (MQ) IS OUT OF THE EQUATION!

These MTSOs know the reputation of MQ and what they will do to their beloved and loyal employees, and sell out to MQ anyway, why because of GREED! MQ has the bucks to dangle right now!

If the scenario you suggest of former MQ employees forming their own company only to sell it when they get tired of it actually is true, then how about being honest about it and letting people know BEFORE the aquisition so they can get another job. That is not what is happening. It is all done behind the scenes until the bomb drops.

You want to sell out, then sell out to another MTSO which would HELP the industry instead of put people out of work by sending it all to India.

First and foremost, just BE HONEST so people can move on. That's the biggest problem with these acquisitions, one day you don't have a job, no food on the table, no roof over your head, no money for gas, etc., just because MQ and the sell out can't just be honest!

When Q bought the company I was with out there were several others in the bidding war including Transcend (don't know much about how that company is with it's MTs either.) However, as you stated Q has the bucks, so Q it was. It took them less than a year to destroy my love for the job. It would be nice if they were honest, but that's not going to happen with MQ.

Well, I fault the one that sells out for not being honest and upfront! It is a given MQ won't b - IMO

It's not a 2-way street in that regard. They want us to be honest with them about our situation, but they are not, the whole while in meetings and on the phone negotiating for their next move, which like you said MTs don't know until the bomb drops. IMO, these companies, MQ at the top of the list, are no longer considered American in my book and a disgrace to hardworking people who live and die for the United States. If the "bomb" decides to drop on the MTSOs one day, no sympathy from me whatsoever.

MQ is NOT American. It is Indian owned, no allegiance to - ppl who live and die for UA. nm

Uhhh, Medquist isn't "considered American" in ANYONE'S book. As of October it is a completely Indian owned company. CBay of India now owns 100% of Medquist shares.

How interesting would it be if we all refused to work for Q and just let India have it. India doesn't have the quality to keep the accounts IMO and would lose them-AHHHHHH! It won't happen though cause too many don't have the guts to quit MQ, they want to wait and get fired cause they aren't needed anymore, without notice I might add.

I think eventually this will be MQs demise anyway cause sooner or later the quality is going to become a problem for the clients.

WTF is going on? I am no longer an MT, but I still care about a lot of people who are still TRYING to work at the Q. I see an opening at TTS but when reviewing posts about TTS it sounds like a bad place to work with incompetent recruiters and managers. It seems 95% of the posts are bad regarding TTS. some part-timers anyway, why not offer weekends to part-timers and offer some Mon-Fri shifts for the experienced full-time MTs you're trying to get..... That's about the only way you're going to get many experienced quality MTs. And there are always plenty of MTs looking for part-time weekend work as a 2nd job. ...

Is this just a scam so that employers don't have to pay benefits and employer taxes? I bet if there was an audit, most ICs and MTSOs would be in trouble for using that classification improperly, especially for the full-time positions. I even applied for a full-time secretarial job in a small law office recently, and was told I would be hired as a contractor with no benefits. I was stunned and declined. I see ads for Medtrans all over the internet for all different cities and you go to their website and it seems they are pushing you to take their course and then they will hire you. I am just confused because I keep seeing the companies advertise for months, yet they seem to say "no" a lot. I am surprised to see the job ad for TransTech on the Job Board here...I thought they didn't have enough work. There are two ads actually, one for acute care, the other for oncology. They only hire for 2nd shift and that is to do the leftover, picked-through work from 1st shift. There is no way to make good money going this, though they give you a month to get up to 135 lph, which at 8.5 cpl is a whopping 11.48/hour.
