I have been infected!! Well, my MQ computer anyway. This has never happened before. I have never had a virus even on my personal computer. What do I do? I emailed support because it is a Sunday and every time in the past on Sundays I get a rude tech so I didnt call. It is also my day off so I just shut my computer off and I guess if they don't call me tomorrow then I will call them. Beware... it is called personal gaurd 2009. I don't know how I got it. I usually will do a search for a word or something from googlemt so maybe from there... I dunno. This virus acts like it is an antivirus program and it will pop up like McAfee so be careful out there! All the sudden it was just on my computer and McAfee kept giving me a pop up stating it was getting rid of it, but the virus kept installing itself. Has anyone here had a virus on a MQ computer? If so, let me know what happened! Thanks!

If you don't want to wait for support, run a scan with the antivirus scan present on the - dnr

MQ (make sure it is up to date) and it should tell you or send you to a link to remove the virus. You could go to the McAfee site and run the free online scan which will give you a link with a removal tool and virus information. Good to downloads under home and office.

If you're not somewhat computer savvy, talk to support first. They should be able to talk you through solving the problem.

You need help BIG TIME!! - Spent all week on this virus

I got this virus SUnday a week ago. I got it when I clicked on MTJOBS.com site but they said their site is clean.

I've gone through absolute HELL all week. I don't have tons of funds to take to Best Buy or to a tech to get fixed.

Personalguard is also paired with Trojan.FakeAlert

The trojan damages your hard drive.

download malawarebytes anti-malware and run it. You may have to buy it to clean your computer, I can't remember now.

McAfee was running on my computer and did NOTHING to stop this Trojan and malware.

I've lost so many work hours that I want to cry and in the end, it looks like I may need to reformat my disk and even then I'm not sure my hard drive can recover.

I got it as well. Download/install/run malwarebytes. It is free and it will take care of it. It is just another variation or the several other Antivirus 2009-2010 scams. Other programs that are of great help are CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, and Adaware SE. They are all free and are great at cleaning up you computer.

Has anyone had to deal with tech for a computer virus? My MQ computer (not this one) has a virus, it says a worm and also security 2010 virus. Undoubtedly I have picked up a virus if nobody else is having this slowness and delay that I am having. Sometimes will just stop while I am still typing and then will catch up. I think this is where I am to post this. I have Norton 360 installed on my computer. Every night, it just starts running a scan, usually when I am working :-(. So, I am working on MQ computer and wanted to ask a question on MTstars and before you know it, a virus started downloading. I freaked out and tried to stop the virus from scanning.
