Does M*Modal have a 12-hour window? sm - former MQ
Posted: May 04, 2012
Does M*Modal have a 12-hour window for your daily work or a strict schedule? Is full-time 35 hours or 40 hours? Thank you.
I was told no (but) - LeftMT Yay!

First of all today was my last day, er yesterday.
I worked for Medquist for years on 2 separate occasions. The first we were grandfathered in and there was no window at all just do you work.
The 2nd time 2004-2005 when I went to leave (and I left) my supervisor (I don't remember being called CCMs then) begged me to stay, I could work my hours whenever I wanted to as long as I did them within 24 hours.
I came back (obviously for a short amount of time as my name indicates I'm gone) and no 12 hour window. The CCM I have will email if you are 5 minutes late (the next day or whenever she checks, sometimes that day sometimes 2 weeks later). She has also reneged on previously approved vacations, i.e., "I understand I approved this time, but it's not possible now." I've never been able to swap an hour, start late with permission (I just start later and figure if she doesn't like it too bad), or anything.
BUT I've also read on this very board some people have CCMs who are more lenient. I think mine is just a bit anal retentive...now mine WAS a bit anal retentive.
Dang it - LeftMT Yay!

Sorry the first two times were MEDQUIST, the most recently was MModal.
Strict schedule, no flexibility - and 40 hours is full time

When you're hired you commit to a work schedule you must keep.
No flexibility - EX-MQr

So you have to adhere to a schedule, but if you have no work then what? You're not paid and sometimes they force you use your PTO. I say nuts to that. You want me to adhere to a schedule, then you better have work for me or pay me unemployment for the downtime and not make me use my PTO. Have fun with this bunch; no matter how great it starts out, in two months you are going to be looking around for another job. Avoid the Christmas rush and start now and just use them as an interim job. If you have to depend on MM as you only source of income, you will go crazy and feel so beat down by them. It took me eight months to find a job when I worked for them and I was there almost two years. It was horrible.
39hrs is full-time 24 to 38 is part-time. - no 12hr window.
Do they work under this and what exactly is this anyway? You have a scheduled shift, but are allowed to work in that 12-hour window around your shift to get your lines? ...
I saw where Transcend had an ad for VRE editors, 12 hour shifts. Don't know if it was just one facility of theirs or all accounts. But... sounds like more flexibility than I have now. Anyone have input on this? ...
Does anyone know of any companies that allow either a 12-hour window to get in your hours or just a line count quota with no daily time limit? I suppose either one of those options would be IC, but wouldn't mind an employee position.
I have worked at one of the big ones for a few years but I am just too burnt out working late at night "scheduled" every night. I hesitate to change my schedule with them because of losing my account, which is the only reason I keep plugging away a ...
This may sound like a good thing, like they're allowing flexibility with your shift, but the reality is that with frequent NJA, it'll take you 12 hours of hovering over your computer just to get 8 hours of pay.
What a crock. ...
Do you guys use the "hint" window or the "suggestion" window?
So, I've been using SH for a bit now and today, by accident, was trying to change a font, I realized that I was only using the small "hint" window and there was the "suggestion" window that brings up more than 1 entry.
For a couple of reports I used the "suggestion" window but found it awkward having to scan the window, but probably weird to me because I'm not used to it.
Which do you use?

Hi:I am make incentive based on minutes, but I work on a system that lets me check how many lines and minutes I have typed in a day also.
Just in case I have to get another job based on lines, I wanted to know what is the average amount of lines per hour or per 8 hour shift.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

I know none of us get paid by the hour, but I was just wondering if any of you have ever figured out just how much you earn per hour, based on a 40-hour week. I'm just trying to figure out where I fit in. I seem to be earning $16-18/hour give or take based on how my week goes. ...
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the QA window that keeps popping up with each QA blank? I often put in QA markers with a difficult dictator and then go back and listen again and compare to previous reports, so I'm not ready to write a QA note. In the meantime, that irritating window pops and covers the field I'm working in, and I have to manually push it down with the mouse each time. ...
Lately, when I get NJA it is just long enough to slow my production down, but not long enough to report it. It only lasts about 10 minutes most times. Does everyone else wait the 15 minutes before reporting as we are supposed to, or do you report it right away? ...
Seriously, I was 11 seconds (according to my punch clock) past the scheduled start of maintenance on submitting a really long job and it didn't go through. I think they should wait 5 minutes for the last minute submissions or at least hang onto the job and have it submitted after maintenance. ...
Does anyone know how to change the window color from the blaring white in Word for ES9 so that it will work? Each time I have changed it, ES9 messes up. Hard to believe in the technology they have this can't be done. Was hoping when I upgraded from XP last year this would have been the fix, but apparently not. Thank you ...
My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour. I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl. The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years. The other is an IC position. Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate? I have never done production by line work so I'm not sur ...
I use my own laptop. The system runs so slowly.
I have changed my internet from DSL to cable.
I've emptied my cookies and defragged and scanned until my fingers bled.
I'm still slow. It's either my antique XP laptop or DQS itself.
I'm open for suggestions.
My CCM says DQS is not compatible with windows 7, but you know how that goes. ...
Just received 2 emails - 2 jobs with 1 error each from this a.m. I have been extremely careful doing VR and these 2 errors are a word that is "missing." I think once we upload a job, this VR crap doesn't 'save" what we've done in a report fully. This has been happening quite a bit lately.
I had a report a couple of weeks ago where the report had an entire paragraph in it that wasn't dictated. I remembered that job from a few hours prior and I know I didn't add t ...
I just have to VENT today. Between bad ASR, poor audio quality, 90% ESR and 12 different accounts today I feel like tearing my hair out. But, I guess I could have no work. ...

If whatever the doctor said is a little wonky, doesn't make sense or is a bad sentence, you can and will get dinged for typing what the doctor says. Told to leave a blank so you won't get dinged. ...
and the window to request Christmas is about to open, and the new rule our "scheduler" made up is that we can only take one of them, it would be nice if she would PROCESS THE THANKSGIVING REQUESTS SO WE KNOW IF WE CAN REQUEST CHRISTMAS OR NOT.
On a side note, since we can only take one of them, I suspect because she thinks it will make her job easier, that's going to throw way too many people working on completely dead holidays, which will lead to her having to fill out a ton ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...
Today I made $4.22 in one hour, doing one report; however, I am not entirely disgruntled. I only left one blank and have a sample for next time. There is a sense of accomplishment when you figure out the blanks after extensive researching online. ...
