Anybody start DQS7.1 today? - Just curious how its going
Posted: Aug 20, 2012
I'm supposed to start work later. No word from the CCM today. You'd think she would send out a reminder note or some hints or something. Nada. Zip.
7.1 - Nature

Yes. I started it today. I only type 3 hours on Monday. I survived it. There is still a lot that I don't understand (even after viewing the videos numerous times), but I got through it. Once you get to the actual typing, it is almost just like 6.1. A few changes, but not bad. I am sure I will learn the rest of it as time goes by. I have to say, I was a nervous wreck, but muddled through it as best as I could. It is the ADT screen that bothers me, and on the screen that you type on, it does not show the patient's name. I am sure you will do fine. I am a slow learner and have ADD, but once I learn it, watch out!
Thanks, Nature! - I am really dreading it

I only work 4 hours today, and hoping I can survive it!

I know exactly how you are feeling. I really thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown after viewing the videos for 7.0 AND 7.1. I went over them several times. To tell you the truth, it is not near as bad as I thought it would be. Now that I have typed a little bit, I am going to go over the ADT video again and see if I can understand it better. Good luck. You will do fine. If I can do it, anybody can.
Why are you waiting? - On 7.1
[ In Reply To ..]
Curious as to why you are waiting, unless you haven't downloaded it yet. If you have given the go-ahead and downloaded and have done so, go on ahead and start unless you were told to wait for the final "go."
WAITING ON 7.1 - Nature
[ In Reply To ..]
We in the North were told NOT to start using it until today. They did not even want us to do the download until last Wednesday, but we were told DO NOT use it until the 20th.
Today is the 20th - Confused
[ In Reply To ..]
Today is the 20th and poster's note is dated the 20th.
Anyway, I'm in the north and we were originally told to start the 20th of Aug, then they sent and e-mail and said "dont," then another e-mail saying to do it the 30th of July. They apparently aren't doing the North region as a whole.
Anyway, to get back to the subject, if they said to start the 20th and they gave you all the go-ahead otherwise, I would just start. If you have instructions for some reason NOT to start, then definitely don't.
This is the 20th - but my shift hasnt started
[ In Reply To ..]
That's why I haven't started using it. It's downloaded, I just haven't started my shift.
STARTING ON 08/20 - Nature

I think she starts working later in the day. I, myself, have finished my shift for the day, and was just trying to encourage her that she will do fine on 7.1.
DQS7.1 - Shorty
[ In Reply To ..]
I was to start DQS 7.1today at 8 a.m. so signed out of work to do and DQS 7.1 will not download. Sent request to Remedy for help and also held on line for 30 minutes for tech support but no answer. May be a lot of people having problems downloading update.
I started today....going SLOW - Trampled underfoot
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think I'm a particularly slow learner, but I'm muddling along. Hate the ADT screen. And every time I insert a QA marker (long report with a ESL newbie doc) I end up in the QA screen. There are far too many keyboard shortcuts that I don't see any conceivable reason for. Maybe it's just me.....
Over 100 keyboard shortcuts....really?...we need - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that many? How can we possibly remember them all? Another MModal/MQ nightmare.
How do you remember anything? How do you remember multiplication - table? How do you remember how to drive? SM
[ In Reply To ..]
How to get to you destination? You just learn it and the more you do them, the easier and more automatic they become. And after a while muscle memory takes over and you are done with a report before you realize it.
Bit snippy, aren't you? - Trampled underfoot
[ In Reply To ..]
I realize they CAN be learned; not all at once of course, but frankly, I can't see much purpose in a lot of them.
Oh, and yes, I can drive. And usually can find my way out of a paper bag.
Trampled - Nature
[ In Reply To ..]
LOL, Trampled. I agree with you, yes we can learn them eventually, but I just do not see the sense in it. Thank goodness I made my line count, but could have made a whole lot more if I had not have had to stop and look up keystrokes.
Bless your heart. Do you think you will have to stop and look - at them forever? nm
[ In Reply To ..]
The shortcuts are the same. If you use them you should have no problem. It may be visually different, but your fingers will know what to do. There is only a few new ones worth memorizing, I feel that it is worth it.

I agree with the "too many keyboard shortcuts, and that is why I use my mouse when it is faster than keystrokes. I hate the ADT screen also. I really do not see that it saves any time for me, but that is just me saying so.
It doesn't help that I'm all tensed up! - Trampled underfoot

Plus I've had a run of lousy dictators. I had to turn off my fan and close my windows in an effort to even hear them! I have a big knot in the back of my neck right now. Tomorrow should go better. At least I certainly hope so.
I run my PC sound through my radio.(Alone in my office and - and house) I can really crank that baby up. nm

I'm generally all alone here anyway. I might try to figure out how to do that!
It doesnt help that we dont get training pay. - Some regions got it
[ In Reply To ..]
Apparently we don't! What a screwed up company this is! Why can't everyone get the training pay????
I also started today, and dont understand why we - dont get training pay
[ In Reply To ..]
I know others did, and it says right on MQ Central that you get training pay for moving to a new platform. Well, this is a new platform!
It's not new, it's upgraded and prettified. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
the only thing really different is visually. All the shortcuts are the same except a few new ones that aren't mandatory to use, they just make things simpler and faster. When I see people ask about compensation, I just think, "why?" I switched and my production didn't drop at all; in fact, it may have went up a little with the search integration.
Compensation for switching to something like ChartScript, then yes because the key shortcuts are different, the ADT is different, and finding a patient is different.
For DQS7.1, the core hasn't changed, just the looks and added functions. Repeating the same steps from DQS6 with your eyes closed would pretty much result with the same outcome.
The QA Screen Thing - Hit escape real fast...
[ In Reply To ..]
Why they have a QA Note pop up everytime we hit the QA marker, I'll never know. They've always had that, but it's "in the way" on DQS 7.1 more for some reason.
I just hit escape really, really fast when I put a QA Marker in and that helps--once you're used to it.
QA screen - Nature
[ In Reply To ..]
Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. It is nice that there are MTs who share tips like that!
Will Still Pop Up... - But...
[ In Reply To ..]
Silly note will still pop up, but hitting escape fast will get it out of there quickly! They really should set it up so that the QA Note doesn't pop up at all. I suggested that years and years ago, but it never happened.

Does anyone have the link to go to download 7.1. They forgot to give it to me and I am supposed to be on DQS 7.1 as of yesterday! Thanks for your help.
I recall getting an email awhile back telling us we were starting DQS7 on 9/17. But not a word from CCM about training. How long does the training take? ...
as I thought. In fact, I did not sleep last night and my stomach was in a knot before I started work this morning. Basically, I worried myself sick for nothing. I am glad, however, that I went over the tutorials one more time last evening, so I think that really helped.
Though the screen is visually different, most of the commands are still the same. The first report was slow going, took about 45 minutes to do because I was being sooooo very caref ...

I'm one of those that had a high enough test score to get into MModal's program but didn't quite make it. I had already been looking at one of the Coding schools but wanted to give myself a week or so to think it over and not make a knee jerk move after being passed over by MModal. Today, I picked up the phone and signed on with the school I've had my eye on and I start on Monday! I'm actually reeeeally excited - and surprisingly I'm actually feeli ...
Is anybody else noticing part of ASR missing from DQS7.1 reports? Very frustrating. I feel like I am typing a majority of the report for SR crap pay. ...
I spend much more time editing than I used to because of no commas in lists of meds, etc. Come on!! I can't believe they couldn't program the *&$# thing better than that. And the HEADER thing!?! Willy-nilly-free-for-all headers. My Rant for Today. Thank you. ...
This company has never, ever introduced new software or a new account that did not have to have its intro postponed. You would think they might have learned by now not to make any announcements until all the kinks are worked out but no, not MQ. Yet the MTs have to be 99% accurate. Everyone else can just goof off. ...
I have a problem quite often, both in ASR when correcting or straight typing, where for some reason, the text from one line will drop to the next line when it clearly hasn't gotten to the end of the line I'm typing on...leaving only 1/2 line of text. This happens quite a bit. Anyone else having this happening? ...
Our region is scheduled to start DQS7 in a couple weeks, and we were required to watch the training video - way ahead of our start time.
I don't think I'll be able to do this!! They talk about keystrokes I've never heard of, the fonts in the demo were so small I could barely read anything, They talked about pushpins I never did find!
Is this as awful as it looks? Getting nervous.

Just starting DQS7.1 today and wondering about spacing between paragraphs. In ASR, when the dictator says next paragraph, it goes to the next line. Is this correct, or do I need to insert a hard return to make a like between the paragraphs? Anybody know? Don't want to mess up the formatting. ...
I have 1/2 the required RAM, told by a microsoft website techie through a Serv Man ticket that DQS7 has shown to work OK with 890 RAM instead of 2. The MQ computer is struggling now AGAIN like last time when the system went down with the major upgrade - slow whirring computer, always downloading or updating Kapersky or some mystery software or action. Speech is so slow I have to wait for it to correct - this especially in long jobs. Anyone else have these intermittent - but lon ...
Back from vacation. Logged into the new 7 version - would not work. Tried a few times. Called Support. 1-1/2 hours - no luck - they will contact Advanced Support. Will try again tomorrow. They estimate it will take 2-3 hours to fix it.
Meanwhile CCM instructed to do straight typing on version 6. Like heaven - the old days.
Anyone else have this experience ? TIA ! TGIF !

In DQS6, where the screen color was determined by what you set Windows colors, I had a nice pale green which is very easy on the eyes.
And what's up with the dark grey highlight for SR!? Harder to see the black text underneath.
Shesh, these changes from DQS6 where definitely made by people who do not have to look at a computer screen all day. I will never forget the day I was looking for a specific keyboard and the computer salesmen did not comprehend why I was so picky. They had ...

I would like to how you became coders? I saw someone went to Andrews, is that where most of you went? I was a coder at a local hospital about 12 years ago. I was taught on the job, no schooling at all. I know things are changing and have changed significantly since I coded, and the way it sounds ICD-9 is going to ICD-10. What suggestions would you give someone like me? I also did transcription and have been doing that for the last 25 or so years, but I do not like t ...
Hi All,
Some IC questions for all you ICers out there....

3) What are some of the most important things to include in your IC contract in your opinion?
