Any other MMEs have a significant drop in ILP work? - I barely get any anymore

Posted: Apr 25, 2012

I'm guessing either the huge group of hospitals (I think they're like the walmart of hospitals) dropped them because they were awful, or they're trying to keep costs low and are having ILPs do their own QA, which will be a disaster.  Since I see the USA side of that hospital group still pop up once in awhile, I'm guessing its the latter.

Pretty much the ILP QA department may as well be nonexistent.  I see just as many errors on work that goes through them as straight from the MT.

Just wondering if this is a trend for other hospitals done by the ILPs.

More and more hospitals are having it added to - their contract that work

Stays in the United States. Maybe that one was up for renewal and they amended their contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if this became the new trend, as not every hospital knows or even wants their work to leave the country.

Just a thought.

What does - ILP

International Labor Partners - AKA the Indians

Our company sure loves its titles and abbreviations.

I'm not seeing any difference - anon

Last week I edited a 500-second report done by an Indian employee that needed *62* corrections. I'm finding that if they don't understand something because of the language difference they will plug something in that "sounds like" what the doctor dictates.

This is the future of medical records, guys.

I know! It's insane how they do that - MME

It's like they think they'll get whipped if they leave any blanks (maybe they do, or get their massage privileges taken away). I swear that they are just as bad as ASR sometimes. I hope one day either the doctors or the patients start reading their medical records.

What scares me are all the ones that DON'T get routed to QA - anon

The only reason I even found the 62 errors were because the MT left one little blank for me to fill in and I read the entire thing. What if that report (and soooo soooo many others) was sent through just like it was? OMG ... it sends a chill up my spine to think about.

As MMEs we're only supposed to fill in the blank and not read the entire thing but I can't help it ... I think if the patient knew I corrected their entire report they would thank me for catching the enormous mistakes that I've found. Some of them have been life-threatening ... and the majority of them due to the language barrier.

VR Pay....is It Customary To Drop The Cpl AND....sm
Apr 18, 2011

decrease the weight of a line when paying VR.  For example, if you edit 2000 lines in a day, is it customary for the company to ask you to multiply that by 0.70 for a total of 1400 lines because they are VR and not straight transcription as well as pay you half your transcription line rate?  Does everyone do this?  I am finding VR to be much more intense and demanding than straight transcription and this seems like a double whammy to me! ...

Can You Drop To PT (30 Hours) From FT At Any Time?

Aug 15, 2012

This week has been the turning point for me. As I was thinking about all of the presenters and debaters at ACE this year, they had one thing in common. They were all selling or promoting something.  Then there were the MTSOs, who are the problem rather than the solution, but put in the position of lecturing to us. I can delete the e-mail promotions, but when you pay to go to a conference, you don't expect it to be full of sales promotions. Each presenter had an agenda, but it wasn ...

Huge Drop In Work At Landmark Transcription
Mar 01, 2014

I've had a huge drop in work at Landmark for the past 3 months.  I've been there for 3 years working on the same account the entire time.  I've looked at my paychecks during these same exact months for the past years and I had much bigger paychecks, meaning much more work.  Here it is a weekend and I had hardly any work yesterday and so far no work today and this account always had work.  It's been this way for almost 4 months.  Anyone work on the big account that starts ...

MMEs
Nov 22, 2009

So a girl I worked with at a local hospital here now works for MQ, and I found out she is an MME, so I ask her, what exactly is an MME, she says she gets what we send to QA, corrects it, and types.  So....basically they are just QA people? But, don't QA people type too?   I just don't understand this MME position.  Any MMEs here that can tell me what an MME is (and I know it stands for Master Medical Editor, for the smarties)?  ...

To Those MT/MEs Who Became MMEs
Jan 13, 2011

Just got a request to test for the MME position.  I'm tier 3, 99% accuracy, and I've been here for 7 years, but I didn't take the test when they first offered it because I knew that my pay would take a nosedive.  I have a feeling they will be getting rid of all the regular MT/MEs shortly and keep only MMEs on board, but if the pay is actually worse, then it may be better to be given the boot.  I was told by CCM that it is mostly transcription work and not so mu ...
