weird linkedin contact sm - questioning

Hey guys - i got this Linkedin message from this guy - don't know what to think of it and wanted another opinion. I am feeling i should ignore it and that is spam of some sort - any thoughts?

Second, I think the ad sounds like an Indian, which is probably going to be super low pay, if it is not a scam.

I would not respond or open any attachments to the email. Legitimate job offers would not look like that. If you do not personally know this Dr Nayan, do not answer. If you do know him, phone to the number you know for him instead of emailing to that return address.

Quite honestly, that looks like the beginning of a Nigerian-type scam or a phishing attempt. Mali is not in the US and it is not a nice place.

Linkedin got hacked several weeks ago. Their subscriber usernames and passwords, apparently all of them, were posted to a Russian website. Many had been cracked already. The global hacker community has had a field day with the rest.

Linkedin had never taken the standard steps to protect their users. I cancelled my account when I began getting unsolicited stuff like this. I recommend you do, too. If you feel it is that valuable, you can resubscribe after they get their negligent ways under control. When you do, loo up the requirements for constructing a secure password and develop a new one that is entirely unlke what you used before.

The risk here is not to your Linkedin account but to your other accounts that may have similar passwords. If you used the same or similar anywhere else, they can get into them. They just need to find out where they might be and test the password they have and variants of it. Your bank account, credit cards, PayPal, Amazon, EBay, and everything else is at risk.

That is most likely what the alleged Dr Nayan is after.

Look up Nigerian scam online if you do not know what those look like.

i joined linked in about 2 weeks ago, which I believe was after the scandal about the passwords and such - i joined several MT discussion groups on linkedin and I believe this is where he got my name. I have deleted the message and obviously will not respond - i thank you for all the good information, which is why I came here with my question. Appreciate the response :)

Not really spam, but LinkedIn members do sometimes - do bulk mailing.

Premium members (not free) can do searches for people who have the word "transcriptionist" in their profile, for instance, and create mailing lists.

Why don't you just check out the sender yourself on LinkedIn? That should tell you what you want to know. I'm guessing this is offshore, just from the wording alone.

This is a pt in her 20s being seen for a sore throat. Hx of asthma, vertigo, migraines. Only medication on her med list s/l "IM". That is it. Goes immediately to allergies from there. Any clue what this could mean? Nothing before or after to indicate an injection so it is not intramuscular. I just sent a document to my Hewlett Packard printer and set it for 3 copies. The first copy was fine. The second and third copies looked like a new language. On further inspection, it was obvious that each letter of the alphabet and number was offset by one. I have some .wav files I need to load into Express Scribe for a potential placement with a company for school. They will not play in windows media player, or Express Scribe. In ES it says "Opening audio file failed." After this I even downloaded other .wav files for school and they work and play just fine. I have noticed this a few times now. About halfway into a report, when I hit ctrl+shift+m to jump to where the text is, the cursor goes to the very end of the document. Whenever I hit ctrl+shift+m after that, it goes directly to the end, never to where the text/audio is synched. Is there a command that makes this happen that I am doing accidentally?
