Im wondering if an MT with 23 yrs exp would ever be hired to dictate in-house FOR the physicians or input on an EMR FOR physicians? Im not even sure that is a position or if it would be legal? Anyone do this? If so, what would you charge? ...

I work in-house, got the news a week ago that the hospital has hired an outside company to take over the transcription, which will save the hospital millions of dollars. We have the option of going with the other company or simply going home; in other words, take it or leave it. I think this was a very large account and they could have divided the MTs who had this as their primary and put them on various other accounts. First, VR was going to replace us. When that didn't work, now we -- American MTs -- are fine-tuning VR so the Indian MTs can replace us.
