We will not be creating a new board for "positive posts only." You have the choice as to what posts you want to read. If a post is too negative for you, simply do not read it. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I will continue to monitor for foul language, name calling, etc., but will not be trying to decipher what is too positive or too negative for your liking.

Perhaps you should leave if this board, its "censorship," and moderation is not to your liking. Different people have different opinions. True, some posts can be offensive or insulting but guess what? You do not have to read them or respond to them. Most people do that. However, YOU want to censor what people can and cannot post? I applaud the moderators for not allowing this and, for the most part, they keep the board clean, without censoring what people think or how they present themselves, even if they, themselves, may not agree with it. I have noted that foul language and name-calling posts are deleted.

Your post about censorship is pretty much your self-description, is it not?

It was not supposed to be a board for "positive posts only." It was supposed to be a board where MTs who still like the field, still thrive in the field, and are still successful in the field can go to have a conversation where we aren't being considered rude and insensitive. A fellow MT posted on here about how happy she was her hospital changed their mind about outsourcing and she got bombarded with remarks about how insensitive she was. Can't we have a place where we can go to have actual conversations without being considered insensitive? At least if we have a separate board, people who don't want to hear about the positives of MT can stay off the board and have no right to call us insensitive. This is supposed to be a community of medical transcriptionists where we can have support from each other, ask questions, share our thoughts...not be abused because people are miserable and don't like the work. Just because some companies are playing "slave wages," doesn't mean everyone does and it doesn't mean we are all miserable or don't exist! If M*Modal and Nuance can have their own boards for "coworkers" to talk, why can't "happy MTs?"

You have the right to post whatever you want (within the rules of the board) on whatever board you choose. If someone posts in a manner not suitable to you, then you have the right to ignore it, and continue on with posts that do suit you.

This entire forum is for MTs to "support eachother, ask questions, and share thoughts" and just because someone has expressed unhappiness with their company, does not mean they are abusing you. They have just as much right to their opinion as to the direction of this field as you do, and they will continued to be allowed to express their viewpoint as well.

I don't usually chime in to the arguments here, but I was on that thread and I remember only ONE remark by someone saying the poster was being insensitive, and that person actually came back and apologized! They were hardly bombarded. With the exception of that one remark, the rest of the posts were congratulatory.

That suggestion the other day was respectfully stated--that others just keep in mind that many other people on this board are hurting terribly because of things outside of their own control (not because they themselves are inadequate MTs) and that it might be a little insensitive to merely crow about how good one has it themselves. I don't know that the original poster was "bragging," exactly, because it was probably more about luck than pure skill that brought about their good fortune. At any rate, no demands were made that the happy comments were not or should not be ALLOWED; there was no insistence that happy MTs don't belong on this board, and there was no name calling in that post (suggesting that a comment is a little insensitive isn't "name calling," in my book).

I, too, think the moderator has come to a very reasonable conclusion in this instance.

I am in agreement that there should be no second board; the Main Board is for general MT discussion for all.

I don't think it can be argued, however, that the OP was met with a variety of insults. I certainly don't think a separate board would alleviate this problem.

I would be happy if other posters could share their different experiences, perspective, or ideas on where to go next as an MT. If other posters don't like it, we don't have to engage with them.

When posting a response to the OP, it could come directly under their post and not go to the bottom of the postings in that particular list? When a new post comes in, could it be highlighted at the top of the page like it was before? I think people actually like seeing those there so if of interest they can respond then. I know I did. Ask your CCM tonight to temporarily help out in the South if you are NJA. I hate to draw people to my accounts and risk running out of work, but considering these accounts are going to go late in a couple of hours and they have already threatened to leave if TATs aren't met, it's worth the risk.
