QA scoring - anyone heard of this? - TFlight

Posted: Jan 11, 2011

Okay. Just got notice that my QA score was good overall at 99.56%.  MT company says you must be above 98%.  However, I had 20 reports scored and 2 of the 20 reports came in under 98%.  One job was 21 lines and I did miss adding "ly" to the end of a word (-1/2 pt).  Another job was 18 lines and I spelled out four in four months instead of 4 months.  Agree with the changes.  BUT, do other companies take each job separately and grade them and then give you a combined score?  I have never heard of this before.  This company has NEVER done QA before like this.  Any comments or suggestions?  And, of course, cannot get a reply from my manager.

that's how we do it, but - me

i don't do it on that many reports! We only do that actual review every quarter and take 5 random reports. Each get "graded', then the overall average combines all lines and all error points.

Okay, so if you score 5 reports and 1 report falls below the mandated QA score, but again the overall score is above the mandate, does your MT get a warning, disciplinary action, or what, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks.

no, we go by overall - me

average. The only way they would get a "warning" is if their overall average was below the standards.

That is how my company does. It is the - sm

mistakes made over a specific amount of lines - could be 1 report or 15, however any random reports it takes to get to the specific amount of lines required for QA. Each report is QA'd and the score averaged for your efficiency rate. Each type of mistake is rated by seriousness, punctuation is 0.25% up to a 1% error--wrong medical term/medication/dosage/wrong English word, etc.

I agree with an average score of taking all the reports, line count minus error count and getting a QA score for the total of the reports. However, work group manager is sending us individual reports that are less than the mandated amount. Not a total score, but an individual score, on one report. Again, pulling out the reports that may have a syntax error on them, and stating "your score has fallen below the 98% range" on this one job, though the next 18 jobs could be at 100%. What is that kind of scoring????

we don't do that. I check reports - me

that come to me with blanks and I send feedback; however, the errors are not counted against the MT in that situation (unless it is a ridiculous amount of senseless errors). I do a review on each MT every quarter, which is when they get their average and see if they are up to the expected average.

You know what would be nice? If you consistently - shortcake

get above the score for a year, YOU GET A RAISE!!!! I'm sorry, had a bad day today, haven't had a raise in 3 years, consistently get top scores on QA audits and wondering why I try so hard when there is absolutely no gold at the end of the rainbow. My company really does not bother me too much and I am grateful for a job, but when you get these stupid scores for leaving out such an insignificant suffix or prefix, or whatever, it is just so frustrating to get marked down for something like that when we prove our medical knowledge, etc., throughout the rest of the report. We are pressured to produce an hourly or daily line count and at the same time we have to reference up the ying yang because you don't want to leave any blanks (God forbid). Let's not forget we work at home with interruptions you normally would not have in an office, and let's not forget about the quality of the dictators, we are really being so challenged every single day. I am sorry, just freaked out and did not even reply correctly to your post but just needed to vent. I am sure in the long run, this audit will not matter, so maybe you should just try to set it aside and not think about it again!

I totally agree with - me

everything you're saying! Believe me, there are a lot of MTs out there not even "making the grade", or should I say at my company. I don't know about other places, so I will leave it at that. You have an excellent average and I can't believe you haven't had a raise in 3 years! I don't know what company you work for, but having to try not to have a blank is sad. I encourage my MTs to leave blanks if they have any question at all. I look at it like the MT is trying to, like you said, get a certain line count, whether it be required or just their own personal goal to make their paycheck, and that is what QA is for. Just my opinion, but I guess every QA doesn't feel the same. I would much rather get blanks to fill in than an MT searching for who knows how long for something or even end up guessing, but again, I guess that's just my opinion. Hang in there!

New QA Scoring
May 26, 2011

I hope you all realize that the new scoring is not about a goal of 99% at all.  It's not even based on a percentage, just an arbitrary "score".  Since all reports, short or long, start with a "score" of 100 with errors deducted from there, it would be like going to school and one day having a quiz of 10 questions where you could get 1 wrong (90%) and still pass, but the next day, a test with 300 questions would count the same (100 points), where if you got 2 wrong (98 "points" whi ...

FIESA SCORING
Aug 01, 2014

How does one below 99% post audit lower a monthly % by 0.5 points and THREE 100% audits only raise the score by 0.1 point???? Also, got a report back with a major error.   I typed:  The patient thought she had had seen... Audited:  The patient told she had seen.... This is a VERY difficult dictator and his reports are all straight type.  I thought I did better on this one, but cannot win.  It would be nice if such difficult dictators could go for a second listen without it being ...

New Quality Scoring
Oct 04, 2014

Does anyone have any insight on the new quality scoring that will be showing up in FIESA? The video was a little unclear. I thought the company standard was 99% and now it is 99.3% and there is now a new score that will go along with this that we have to meet that is, I thought, already built into QA scoring anyway. There was also a comment about compensation will not be effected YET, which means it will be for those who receive bonus pay for one thing or another, be it quality or production bon ...

QA Scoring Under New Comp Plan
Jan 10, 2015

has anyone had no post audit reports for the week under the new comp plan?  this is my first week of coming across this problem - there were 2 post audits during the week in FIESA, but they were for reports the previous week and I received no PA scores for the week - I'm assuming this puts me in the 0.08000 category for 0%-99% whereas normally getting 100% and this is making a HUGE diff in hourly rate - there needs to be something in place where we have to receive at least 1 PA sc ...

You Know How Some State That The QA/MMEs Are Scoring Your Reports
Nov 10, 2011

I'm an MME and we were all explicitly told not to do any sort of scoring on any reports and just leave feedback.  I've seen a few come on here angry for being scored for silly things and I've always defended, saying maybe it was an accident or they were audited by the client or the QTL.  Well, as you may or may not know, we MMEs QA the ILP reports and some of them are QAd by the ILPs before they get to the USA MMEs.  Today I noticed a bunch of reports with fee ...

Have You Heard?
Nov 24, 2009

I have tested a few times before on mttest.com, a site that several MT companies use for testing potential MT's, and recently received this piece of information: In sections that require you to type in the correct answer, typing a "Capital" letter in the first letter of your answer constitutes a wrong answer. I don't know if this is accross the board but thought it good info to share. Maybe everyone already knew this, and I can't even remember if I did that on previous tests but i ...

Has Anyone Else Heard This? Sm
Dec 03, 2009

I just heard that the 2 largest MTSOs in the world are approaching virtually every large to medium-sized hospital and medical center in the country with an offer for 10 cpl for transcription.  I'm not even sure who the 2 largest are, but I'm pretty sure one of them is CBay and both are offshore companies to be able to offer that rate.  This is really concerning because this could lower the rates for U.S. MTs even MORE or could literally put all U.S. companies out of ...
