A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
On Job Seeker's Board, which is for employers to post jobs available, someone who appears to be a job applicant, and seems to be a "new" poster asks: "What is CV and why would someone ask for that to be included in a job application?"
Since this question might get lost or deleted from the Job Seeker's Board, I sent an e-mail to the poster, but will reply here in case more than one person has wondered. CV can be the abbreviation for the Latin term Curriculum Vitae and it is usually a type of resume of a professional, most usually I believe a physician. It will list all his education, what publications he has had articles in, what classes he has taught, etc. It is a rarified form of a resume. I have typed some of these and they can be extensive and detailed. If a company asks in an ad for a medical transcriptionist for that MT's "CV" I would suspect that the person placing the ad is not necessarily looking for a true "CV," but rather for a resume as I said. And I would suspect that the same person placing that ad is not comfortable with true vernacular English and may represent a company with employees in other English-speaking countries. I sent a private e-mail to the original poster, and my advice would be, if you are interested in the job, respond by all means, and include your resume. Good Luck to the original poster, and all who are looking for work these days, the Holidays are always the hardest, when work is scarce but we need the jobs so badly.
Happiest of Holidays to all who post and read on MT Stars, my little community of friends whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting in person, but still think of quite fondly.
