A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
This is exciting, you guys! Our local NPR station (where I work full time) is planning to air an hour-long radio cast about the effects of the electronic medical records implementation on our MT careers. I was telling our producer that I worked for 27 years as a full-time MT, both in the clinic/hospital setting and at home, but 5 years ago I could no longer make it financially as a full-time MT. That's when I went to work in the public sector doing something unrelated to transcription. I continue part-time as an MT, but barely making anything at it these days.
This is OUR chance to get the word out to the public about the devastation that EMR has caused to the MT industry. Maybe it won't make a bit of difference, as there is probably no going back to the days before EMR, but we can at least be heard.
If you're interested in adding your "2 cents' worth" to the story, use the "send email" button on this thread and email me with your story. I'll then put all the stories together and forward them to the producer. No names will be mentioned, of course. I'll simply copy just your statement and nothing else.
Let's do this! Let's be loud and clear!
