Landmark now requiring..... - bananabread

Posted: Apr 09, 2014

....line requirements per hour. Did anyone receive this e-mail this morning? It said she will let us what the requirements actually are forthcoming.

I know this is the norm with most MT companies, but one of the reasons why I have stayed with Landmark so long was I could basically name my own quota and own hours. Since this was my secondary job, I could fit it in when I had free time throughout the day.

Oh well....not really complaining, just surprised a little.

LINES PER HOUR - FORUM MT

[ In Reply To ..]
It all boils down to MT rate less than $0.075 per line. If you paid by hour, just calculate how many lines you have to transcribe so that Landmark achieves $0.075 per line rate. The current magic number is $0.075 going towards $0.06 per line. I have seen this happen. Good luck.

When I was hired I was told - 1000 lines a day minimum

[ In Reply To ..]
which certainly seems like a very modest requirement. How can people work an honest 8 hour shift and not make this?

It's 1200 a day... - Depressed

[ In Reply To ..]
...and that with working less than 40 hours a week. We are to stay under 40 hours a week.

Acusis requires 2,000 lines per day. Which - of course is impossible to achieve.

Glad I got out of that h___hole.

How to make line counts then? - bananabread

[ In Reply To ..]
When there is no work? I would have to be logged on for 12+ hours to achieve 1000 lines per day it seems. I can go 4 hours or so sometimes with an empty queue.
making line counts - I agree

I agree, I can spent 3-4 hours waiting for work, can't make 120 lph that way. My shift is 5a to 2p and I quit at 2 working an 8 hour shift, although sometimes only 3 hours of work. I will not work past my 2p just to get in officially 8 hours of actually working. I do have a life, but I guess with my last take home check of $600 (lack of work) I really can't afford to have a life. I work that shift because I do have other things to do after 2p and the last thing I want to do at 8 or 9p is to make up for hours I had no work.

I agree - LM worker

I have no trouble making over 200 lph, and know several others who do it as well. I think their requirements are very fair.

520 lines per hour is our requirement -VR - Cbk

[ In Reply To ..]
We have to do 520 lph hour, that is 4,160 a day x 5 day 20,800 a week -- with 98.5% accuracy. We have to speed the voice up all the way in order to achieve.

line count - I agree

[ In Reply To ..]
Well I have made 68 lines in 3.5 hours, that does make 120 lph minimum according to my math.

"How can people work an honest 8 hour shift and not make this"?

With lousy dictators who won't pause for meetings, ordering lunch & phone calls, and consistently get wrong doctor codes and demographics requiring much research. When I worked for LM in the same 8 hour period I would get as high as 1400 and as low as 600 all based on the dictator and research required.

I'm trying to figure out - NK

why not getting our timesheets in on time means we might not get checks on time. Are there employees who are paid on an hourly basis rather than production? I'm pretty sure they aren't taking our line counts from the timesheets rather than the line count within the program they've always used.

I bet it is a minimum requirement - of most employers

[ In Reply To ..]
that you show up for work on time and turn in your timecard on time, whether they take the lines off the timecard or off the system, wouldn't you agree?

40 hours - wondering

[ In Reply To ..]
Is 40 hours a strict requirement? What happens if your lines per hour are above the minimum, you meet the daily/weekly quota, but don't work a full 40 hours per week? Anyone know?

Got to thinking about this, wouldn't this be something agreed upon (contract?) before starting with the company?  Otherwise, threatening to fire you for not responding to an email sounds like a ripe labor law violation.  Wrongful termination?  Bait and switch?  Plain unethical.     ...

Company Requiring Set Hours For IC
Nov 05, 2014

I thought ICs could not be required to work specific shifts and hours, but one company is dogmatic that they WILL do as they say or hit the road.  The hiring person says that you contract to work specific times, which SHE specifies, not your choice.  Doesn't that make you an employee?  Or am I reading the BOLI laws wrong? ...

A Company That I Applied For Is Requiring Business License
Jun 03, 2014

A company that I applied for is requiring that I have myself and/or my company licensed in my municipality as a businessowner before they hire me to work for them as an IC.  I am wondering how do you go about doing this and is this now becoming the "new norm" for working as an IC?  This is the first I have ever heard of such other than having to get an employee identification number through the IRS, which I have already done so.  I contacted my township supervisor and he said he knew nothing ...

For Landmark MTs

Q1: What is COBRA continuation health coverage? Congress passed the landmark Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) health benefit provisions in 1986. Landmark MTs

After the flurry of posts on this board this week regarding Landmark and then doing more research on my own in the archives on Landmark, I have decided to move on.  I am an employee of Landmark also.  I believe where there is smoke, there is fire to follow.  I have not seen what others are saying, but the lack of communication I have experienced and I am a person who do not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.  So,  I am finding another job and I suggest everyone on th ...

Landmark Job Ad
Oct 09, 2011

I would like to apply but don't want to waste my time if there isn't enough work in the first place.  Thanks for your help. ...

I Am So Over Landmark
Aug 15, 2014

is pretty much a bitch-fest, at least it is some sort of contact with other MTs... oh excuse me... MLS.  I have never worked at a place where there was so little contact, no feedback, no sense of teamwork.  Yes, too much oversight with TLs hovering over you is oppressive and you may say... that's okay, I'd like that, just leave me alone to do my work... but really, it's tough to feel totally isolated, anyone agree?   ...
