Is eScription the best VR software - out there

What are the pros and cons for someone new to VR/SR? TIA

Once I got the hang of using the assigned keystrokes and limiting mouse use and learned the accounts well, I slowly but surely gained speed. This was a 2 to 3 month process for me and, luckily, my employer could see my potential and kept me even though I was not making the minimum hourly lines at first. Depending on the dictators, I think escription does an amazing job with the good dictators and even a pretty good job with some of the ESLs. I actually enjoy editing over straight transcription now and could not see myself doing 8 hours of straight typing again. However, keep in mind if the company takes a new account and trains it themselves with strict QA, the SR will be trained properly and learn the dictators and the editing product will be so much better for you. That's the kind of company I work for.

and at least half of those drafts would have been quicker to delete and type than edit. It was not good. I understand they have improved on it, but I am skeptical. It is my understanding, though I could be wrong, that eScription is a Nuance product. Though not having worked with eScription, I do use Dragon Medical to echo dictate, and it beats M*Modal to absolute death. My application with Dragon is front-end speech recognition as opposed to back-end speech recognition, which is what the eScription platform is, and I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. However, if the eScription speech engine is comparable to Dragon Medical, then I would have to conclude it is hands down the best VR speech engine available for what we do.

Having said that, keep in mind that the real problem is the dictator. The irresponsible and discourteous approach that most physicians take regarding their dictation makes any speech engine pretty much worthless. In fact, the only saving grace to VR in the first place is us. If we don't fix the mistakes it makes, no matter how good the dictation was that created the draft, it's still just worthless junk.

I've worked on several and really the only thing I can say about it is that the demographics are better/easier to use. As far as the voice part, some docs it will pick up very well and some are a mess, and oddly the most I've seen that are a mess are American docs. Sometimes it can take you half an hour to type and fix a mess and it seems to me you lose so much with VR anyway.

For a company with technology in its name, I find this platform sorely lacking. Hi. I've been using Express Scribe for years now and have never run into a situation where it couldn't play the files that I was working with. Recently I got a new job and now .ds2 files are going to be used more often and I just found out that Express Scribe doesn't play those. UGH!
