would it be a more tolerable thing? My current job is currently straight transcription but don't know how long that will last. I know of a job opening with VR at an hourly rate, but have always hated VR in the past. The contemplated position uses the Mmodal/Docuscribe and looks simpler than the systems I used in the past. Do you think I should I hang on to what I have, even with a recent reduction in pay, or go for the hourly VR that also has better benefits?

If the company is using MModal platform in any way shape or form.. get ready for a takeover by MModal! Just happened to our company. Told them they could no longer use the platform and did a hostile takeover! Stay far, far away!

Maybe both were bidding for our company I have no idea, but I have fled 4 companies now...each time they have been bought out by either M*Modal or Nuance, I am getting tired of running! MRC Group to Spheris to Wmx to Accentus. And I WILL NOT work for those companies...I think any company is a target for these 2 sadly.

MxSecure also used an M*Modal-based platform and was bought out this year by M*Modal. We went from minimum 10 days PTO, plus 10 paid holidays, 6 sick days, and 2 personal days to...well, you know. UGH.

But just curious what the hourly rate is? I've always wondered about that, possibly having hourly rates at home but with a minimum number of lines for production. Back like when we worked in-house, for those of us that did. And is there a minimum lph required?

top pay range about $15/hr, they provide equipment, minimum lph 130-150 (was a bit unclear on that per explanation). Seemed quite do-able to me. This is working directly for a hospital. p.s. Might also mention they outsource 40% of their work to MModal and are NOT happy with the quality of their work, thus setting up an interhospital system to be able to cover for other hospital transcription needs remotely and have less need to outsource. Told me they definitely did not want to send more of their work off.

Sounds interesting, and no fear of a buyout in this case. - curious

Best of luck, whatever you decide. I'm not familiar with the M*Modal platform for VR (though worked on DocQscribe prior to it going to ASR and liked that), just EditScript for me, but there are a few MTs who post here who work on both platforms and seem to like M*Modal almost as well, from what I could tell.

but it is done remotely, so just a bit different than totally in-house. Still seems better than MTSO.

Hi: I have worked for the same hospital for 12.5 years, so there is a lot of loyalty there. I live in a southern state in the USA. I get paid an hourly pay plus $0.47 incentive for anything over 90 minutes. My hourly pay to me is low, but not below $10.00 an hour. Is 20.00 per hour appropriate or am I wrong? One of my providers is going to switch over to EMR. I've looked into the program and it's got a similar document section to MS Word.
