I think my account is going on EMR but not sure. What have you noticed - PAMT

as your account moves to EMR. Did you notice less doctors dictating or specialties disappearing or how does it work. There is still dictation there but it seems to be getting less and less.

I noticed absolutely nothing, I do not understand - why some hit panic button

Our place has been there for years and not one change, still dictating, still oddles of work, nothing different.

We've also had an EMR system for years. Whether or not you see a change in your workload will depend on whether the system (or the powers that be) allow the providers to continue to dictate and utilize transcription. When things changed for us was when we got VR and a system that uses templated information and point and click. We lost about 75% of our transcription work and the rest gets outsourced. I still have a job, but I don't transcribe. I agree, don't hit the panic button, wait a while and see what happens. Also, it might not be a bad idea to brush up your resume

EMR that is being implemented. If it is point and click, then the work will diminish considerably if not completely. If it is a system that allows transcription, there will still be some work available, but that too may reduce the work load somewhat. It all depends. but as was mentioned, it would not hurt to update your resume and keep an eye open for something else. Good luck... I lost four accounts in three months' time to EMR/VR and was totally unemployed for three months while trying to find something else. Most of them were without any notice...here one day...gone the next. It was frightening.

Other that being outsourced when we got VR, the work situation has remained the same. We are asked at our particular place if we want OT seems like most weeks, see SOS quite frequently. I really cannot see any difference before or after EMR. Don't know why so many panic just at hearing this.

we have been out of a job, most times without notice. I am happy that you have not had a bad experience with it, but that is not the norm on this. I wish you luck in the future.

Yes, OP. That is what happened at one facility where I worked for 20+ years. The owner of our MTSO kept asking and didn't get a straight answer until we heard it from friends working in-house. Entire departments just started disappearing from the workload; sometimes 10 a day (it was large acute care hospital). Within a month she closed shop when the MTSO took a cheap bid from an offshore company to fill in as they finished transitioning. Most facilities don't want to give advance notice, knowing MTs would immediately start looking for another job. Sad but true.

both jobs were jobs I had worked at for over 10 years. Both jobs outsourced. The first was a shocker but when I found out what was going down I immediately sought another job. When this happened I knew nothing of companies that provided transcription. I got out and secured another job, but this job started out at $20,000 less a year than what I had been making. The second time outsourced was at a hospital and then we started VR and shortly after that outsourced. We were offered inhospital jobs if we wanted but I did not care to stay and do not know of other transcriptionists who did stay. Most of my work now VR, some straight but the VR I use is extremely good platform and I can average a wage that is alright by me. I have lost jobs, others here have lost jobs. It has happened to most here. The difference in me is I took the stance that I had to get another job. I have been in the same situation as others and nope, I did not hit the panic button then, just got going because I had children to support.

did not share with me, but the word "Epic" was the beginning of transition of transcription to VR. It may be different everywhere. Maybe your hospital will keep dictating and transcription as opposed to VR. Good luck.

I was just looking back through all my pay stubs from 2010 and MQ took out less than $5.00 in federal taxes. The same dollar amount is listed in the "year-to-date" column on EVERY SINGLE STUB. Of the 80 people listed, only 10 had a 300+ line count. Of those 10, 4 had a high (highlighted in red) QA submission score. The highest line count was 415 with a 24% QA submission score. The average seemed to be between the minimum of 150 and about 250ish. Remember when ASR started and we were told eventually we could do TWICE as much as straight typing and thus the reason for the cpl pay cut! So we all should be at 300+ by now dont you think??!! ...

My CCM finally called and left a message saying I hadn't been logging on and she would have to process termination if I didn't get in touch with her. "A phone call would be nice," I think is how she worded it. I didn't call her back. "check document as you type," there is no delay while typing and there is no delay when moving the audio slider. ASR seems to run smoother also, like before 6.1. I did kind of like the "check document as you type," but not worth how it slows everything down..I think too much for the program to handle. Now the only thing worth the upgrade to me, as well as the only new feature I use other than doctor lookup (which I am getting used to), is the auto numbering feature. I just love ...

I work in-house at a clinic. When I'm reading over reports from the transcription service, I noticed there are no periods after "Mr.," "Dr.," and so forth. The transcriptionists type them as Dr, Mr, Mrs, etc. Is this yet another way to cheat the MTs out of keystrokes? If so, that's pretty pathetic. ...

I usually start my shift at noon but have been noticing the work is coming in later in the day the last few days. I am wondering if there have been issues with transferring the audio files due to all the power outages in the Eastern U.S. I agree the amount of work has been less too. In other words, I a.m. going to follow patient's labs... I have been noticing the spellchecker lately missing a LOT of misspelled words, I just proofed one of my reports and I had a typo in the word January and spelled it as "Janaury" AND THE SPELLCHECK ACCEPTED IT!!!
