How much time do you blow off? - sammny

Since most of us work at home, how much time do you honestly blow off? I have become excessively blowing off time lately. I admit I'm fed up w/this field and can achieve a high line count in about 4 to 5 hours. The rest of the time I'm running my son to activities, making dinner, watching TV ect. I hate to admit to this, but its the truth. I just cannot possibly sit for 8 hours and listen to the crap anymore and for what we get paid, I might as well take advantage of them for once.

It depends - some days it is really hard to sit still, especially in my back-up account - it is a pool and someone will do the work, lol.

But lately, I am in need of money, so I am trying to be more focused. I usually try to set for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, then take a break, throw in some laundry, watch crap on TV, whatever.

My main account pays by the gross line and I usually sit my but in the chair until it is empty, aside from bathroom breaks, because that can be up to 500 or so lines an hour (lots of headers) and I love working on it.

As long as you make your minimum line count and that satisfies you, what does it matter how many hours you work, as long as you're not on a time clock? I don't think my employer cares at all, as long as I make my minimum lines. I see that as one of the benefits that offsets the negatives of this field. If I choose to work more, I can, if not, I don't. I can make my minimum lines in about 5 hours if I stick to it. I figure any more time than that spent working is my choice. Of course, we are rarely backlogged, which is part of the reason my employer doesn't care.

You know the whole wait 15 minutes for a job, then if you still don't have one, put in 15 minutes of work availability thing? What if you choose to keeping checking for work instead of clocking out for the day or taking PTO, do you keep putting in 15 minutes of work availability everytime you check for work, wait 15 minutes, and there is none? It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. I wonder if I will get overtime for yesterday, even though I did not work overtime. Ever since they have changed Schedule Source and now it has a display called today's activity with "actuals" hours, this has not matched the hours shown with the time clock punches and is less than the hours according to the clock punch. Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. For those who went full time to part-time with MQ (because you got another job)...how did that work? Did they approve the schedule you wanted, or did they make you take a schedule? My company was honest and upfront when we started using ChartNet. They told us that once you enter a report for VR, the time clock does not actually start for 60 seconds. Soooo.... this means if I did 30 reports, I add 30 minutes on my time sheet, right? Nothing was said about this for straight typing on ChartNet. We do both.
