Escription? Can anyone tell me about this program? sm - Katydid

Can anyone tell me about escription? I am starting with a company that utilizes this but have never used it. The company said that it is a great program but I would like information from you guys.

productivity on it is not what it is touted to be by the manufacturers/marketers. And I know it's not for the majority of other users either. I still am only editing in the upper 200s, yet to be commensurate with what I was making doing straight transcription (i.e., twice my old speed, since pay is halved), it would have to be in the upper 300s/low 400s. I don't think I'll ever be getting there (though hopefully in the low to mid 300s at some point, as I make more macros, etc.), and only about 10% of the MTs on my team are doing in that range.

Just to add, you just basically listen and I mean you listen to the whole report, as sometimes it will put in things not dictated, will leave out paragraphs that were clearly dictated. You just make the corrections from what was actually dictated to what the computer puts in. Just a lot of proofing and making corrections is what it is. Pay attention to the numbers, as 90% of the time it never gets numbers right. Good luck.

I use it, have used it at 3 of my last jobs. It is easy to use, supposedly one of the best platforms around, but just like any other one, it is only as good as those that "train it." I started out doing good line count but now that has been cut in half because it does not "learn" when there are many, many MTS making different corrections. All the platforms for ASR really are not good, but this one is better. I guess this is the way of the profession now days. You will probably get less than half the money for ASR as if you were transcribing from scratch, so be prepared for a major cut in pay.

I am kind of new to voice recognition and I am a little worried. I tried one beforehand and it was absolutely awful. Nothing in the report made sense, it did not even recognize hardly any easy words, and I just got frustrated and quit. Is this platform pretty good in that sense? Thanks for taking the time to give me a heads-up! =)

For whatever reason where I work the Escription has gone from really good to really bad with having to make corrections in almost every sentence, and it slows you down tremendously. The difference for me has been about a $300 difference in my every other week check so that is a really big deal.

I agree with precious and the corrections to be made. Gets worse all the time, but I have tried other platforms and this one is actually better than most. Just listen to every word, it sometimes leaves out or adds words that can totally change the whole sentence and meaning of the sentence. I am losint money with it too, and they will be cutting your cents per line about half, so means you have to do twice as many lines to keep up to your old money. Won't happen, believe me.

For a company with technology in its name, I find this platform sorely lacking. Constantly having to correct capitals I don't want when I take out a period, it not putting a macro over what I want to change and all this backing up and retyping to change stuff or get a macro to work where I want it is driving me crazy (I know, short trip) and wasting a lot of time. Anyone on this platform, please tell me it gets better. I spent 2-1/2 hours and got absolutely nothing done. Demographics locked up completely and I had to X out, sending the work back to pool. Is there a way to turn this box off? Our system is not well trained yet so there is a lot of editing required. The alt-K combination is awkward for me when having to stop every few words to correct something. I edit by forwarding my cursor through the document (like the red box does) but then there is no extra work in bringing the cursor forward to where the edit needs to made as it is already there. I have now been doing EditScript for a month now and my lines are still horrific. I've read the manual over and over and still have the below questions. What are your computer specs? DH brought up a good question tonight. I have recently moved from my old faithful with 80 MB hard drive with 512 memory to 380 GB hard drive with 3 MB memory. i have had nothing but problems with Escription and not making my lines. Can anyone tell me how to bring up old patient files on Escription/EditScript using version 8? My company just upgraded from version 6 becasue it is not being supported anymore. I need to know if eScription has the capability to "monitor" your work habits. Meaning, does it log you off after a certain amount of time of not working? Does this sound like it is eScription or something else?
