Does anyone type in EMR - Geneva

Switching from straight typing to typing in Electronic Medical Records. They are trying to figure pay scale for transcriptionist. Does anyone had any dealings with such a set up and if so how are you paid?

I have one client that uses a point/click system but dictates in the usual fashion. Some I can point and click and the rest I transcribe. Since it was just impossible to count lines normally we settled on a per report pay. I figured my per report charge by transcribing a full report, counting that, and then deducted what was more than likely going to be point and click lines and not actually transcribing. There are rarely some that I would make more if I was paid by line, but more often it works out in the end and equals what I would have been paid per line. HTH

A small company I work for has an account like this and the only way we could figure out how to count lines (and backup transcription) was by typing in Word and then copying the report into the EMR.

The service I worked for had us type them in Word using dot codes. We typed all of the patients within the same document and then after calculating the line count, forwared it to the office staff, who then converted the document to RichText format and transmitted the file to the client. The client then downloaded the dictation into their particular EMR setup. This way, transcriptionists didn't have to learn 50 different EMR systems...I believe RichText is a universal type of file that can be read easily by other software.
