Dial in dictation systems - Swil933

Posted: Feb 18, 2010

I need to add the ability for a new account to be able to utilize dial in dictation.  He was previously doing this with another service and I would like to offer the same thing to make it easier on him.  I am a small shop and am looking for something that is cost effective but easy to get set up and going on.

Any suggestions on where to start for this would be greatly appreciated.

My experience - TX MT

Bytescribe DocShuttle (I believe is now called WebShuttle).

I used to own an $80,000 system and paid enormous fees to keep it maintained and maintain the T1 that went with it. After adding up all the costs of having the system myself and the phone lines and the long distance charges (I was paying 3.5 cents per minute) it was costing me a total 35 cents a minute for dictation. The highest Bytescribe will charge you per minute is 20 cents.

If you get an average of 10 lines of transcription per minute of dictation that comes out to 2 cents per line of transcription for an 800-number service. The price per minute goes down after you log in a certain amount.

I have been with them since 2002 and not regretted one second. There are other TASPs out there, too, but Bytescribe quality and service is excellent.

If you have only one dictator I believe WebShutte is free and you will be charged from 10 cents to 20 cents per minute depending on usage.

Does anyone have any experience with Phone-In Dictation System by Dictran.  They advertise a Just-Getting-Started Special for $3,995.00.  I would appreciate some input from someone before investing that much money, or does anyone know of another phone-in system where the doctors don't need any special equipment, just a telephone to call in their dictation?  Thank you for any assistance.  ...

Can No Longer Download Jobs Via Dial-up Connection
Jul 28, 2010

I have been working successfully for Softscript for the past 5 years via a dial-up internet connection.  Recently, I have been having trouble downloading jobs; i.e., I can't do it.  The tech person I have been working with there says that my computer is fine - it is just that dial-up is outdated - "no one expects anyone to have a dial-up connection any more". I don't understand how it can be working one day and not the next.  Anybody have any ideas, fixes, etc.  I ...

GLOBAL INFO SYSTEMS (GIS)
Jul 03, 2012

Need recent info on GIS please. Just been contacted by them for an IC position, straight typing @.05 a line! When I asked why so low, I was informed there is a ton of docs, work and a lot of repetition in the templates, so they feel you are getting a lot of free lines! That being said, I'm still shocked that these companies continue to go lower and lower on the line rates! Considering I have been an MT over 20 years, this is crazy to me, but I did read a couple of old posts here that this i ...
