I work for a very nice group of ladies for a smaller company. I have been with them over a year and have an abundance of work. I even quit another part-time job I had as I felt that for the first 9 months that I worked for them I had enough work, and that this was not just a trend, but the norm. Even at Christmas when most companies are slow, I had work. I was not assigned accounts, I shared a pool in which the work was being completed well within the 24-hour TAT, which most companies expect.
For some reason, maybe they were anticipating new accoiunts, they went on a hiring spree and now there has been little to no work in the pool. I, like all other MTs in this business, rely on this job as a job and not as a hobby. I work the same hours every day, notify someone when I am not going to be at my desk for a couple of hours due to appointments, etc., and take my laptop with me on vacation. When asked, they told me, back in March, that everyone is on spring break. Now we are coming up on May, and I must say, it has been a long spring break. It is not my work quality, because ever since day one, I was off of QA and was offered and accepted more work in the past when I ran out.
I am wondering if this now the new norm for this industry. All in all, it is very disappointing.
