Cancer Drugs (sm) - Rose

I'm looking for a listing of cancer drugs, approved and in trials, that has the correct case (generic and brand name). FDA.gov is a good one but that includes all drugs and I was hoping to find a list of just cancer drugs. Any suggestions?

It's there. Did you look at the tabs at the top? I use this page periodically.

Thanks for the link to the cancerdrugs site! I was commenting on the chemical.com that didn't have any drugs listed, it was just a bunch of ads.

Just for info, that one doesn't have the proper case for generic vs. name brand drugs, so we would have to run them through FDA.gov to determine which is which. Thanks for the link.

They appear to be listed generic. If you click on them you get the brand name.

I was looking for a list I could just quickly run through Stedmans spellchecker to add. I just found out we can't use our own Stedman's, have to use the companies which is pretty limited. I appreciate the link though. Thanks!

Here are a couple that I use:

clinicaltrials.gov

cancer.gov where there is an A to Z list of cancer drugs

Also, if you are working for a specific cancer center, you can search their site for trials/chemotherapy, especially if you have an actual protocol number. Hope this helps!

At this point, with so many experienced, qualified people more than qualified for the jobs available, I think getting a job comes down to timing and luck. One job I got I had applied 5 days after the ad posted because my resume just happened to land on a desk on top of the stack at the right time.

In a cancer report, the doctor gave a diagnosis of Stage IIIC T4aN2M0 cancer. Then she later said, He was staged as a pathological T4aN2a. She added the a and dropped the M0. Ive asked QA this five times to no avail. Truth is, I'm still not sure why SpellCheck doesn't cover this. How do we know when I drug has switched over and is now generic and no longer requires capitalization?? I used to depend on Google (at the bottom of the page whether it is capped or not) but QA has bit me a couple times on this and for the life of me, even after researching, cannot find a 100% reliable answer to this question. There have been reports that the Drugs.com website is infectiing users with a virus. This is not correct. Back in June we identified a rouge advertisement that was being swapped out infrequently in place of a genuine ad. In the last few weeks Google has this new feature. You type in the name of a drug (generic or brand name) and the first result that comes down is from www.nlm.nih.gov and it looks different than the rest of the links. It has the generic and brand name, a short discription of what it does and how to take it, and includes links for further information. I was hoping some more experienced MTs could help me with something. I am struggling with remembering which are brand names and which are generics (so I know to cap them or not). Is there some trick to this? A website that can quickly (and obviously) tell you? Perhaps some software you all have? Please, it is driving me crazy and my quality is suffering :( ...

I am still pretty new to oncology and am really baffled by this one. Gyne/onologist: "XXX returns having last been seen in 2010. She has been followed at MD Anderson in the interim. She has had a recurrence of her disease, was treated with s/l "Electrosol" for a long period of time" I just keep thinking about the dishwasher detergent! And it is pretty clear, as well. This is a patient who is on third line chemotherapy for metastatic small cell lung cancer. He has progressed through carbotaxol, carbo VP16 and is now on topotecan. I can't find carbotaxol or carbo VP16 and I don't have good chemo references. Is carbotaxol carboplatin and taxol? I guess my question is, should it be written carboplatin/taxol and carboplatin VP1-16? Or how should this be written? Help, I'm at a loss here. TIA!! :-) ...
